Are Acuvue 2 contact lenses 14 day contacts or monthly?!

Question: Are Acuvue 2 contact lenses 14 day contacts or monthly?
My eye doc told me I could wear these contacts for a month, but I'm doing research on it and it says 14 days? Did my doc screw up or something?

Answers:

No your doctor hasn't screwed up, don't worry.

This lens was created by Johnson and Johnson as a two weekly lens. The ONLY reason this lens was created and advertised as such is because of the pay period of the average American at the time. Wage packets would arrive every 2 weeks, so Johnson and Johnson thought this would be beneficial for the patient.

The contact lens is licensed for wear of up to a month, but it is much more comfortable for the average person to change the lens every 2 weeks.

I hope this helps.

They are approved only as a 2 week lens in North America.

Acuvue doesn't make any monthly lenses. For the North American market , all their lenses are approved for 2 weeks.

It's hard to believe the Acuvue 2 would be approved or licensed for a month anywhere . Those lenses barely make it to the 2 weeks for most wearers.

I had Acuvue 2 contact lenses and they were monthly. But they may also come in daily.
