I worked in an Optometrist office for many years. You have nothing to worry about. It's painless. Like others said before me, wear dark shades when you go outside. The doctor will usually give you some but take your own just in case you need them. Dilation can last from 1-5 hrs. Your vision will be blurry but that's normal because the pupil can't contract. This prevents you from focusing. Things like reading will be difficult but all will return to normal soon. Hope this makes you feel better.

No, don't even worry about it. They will literally just put a drop into each eye (your eye will water a little, and feel cool) but there is no pain. However, your pupils will be VERY dilated, and if you go into bright light, they won't be able to react how they normally do to protect your eye (by getting smaller) so be careful to wear shaded glasses if they give them to you, or follow any other directions they give you.

Eyes are not dilated. Only the pupils of an eye is dilated which is called mydriasis. Substances such as an eye drop solution containing tropicamide can cause dilatation of the pupil. Mydriasis is done to view your retina and other inner parts of your eye. Nothing will happen due to this function.

its just eye drops. it doesn't make your eyes hurt but it does make them more light sensitive and a tad blurry.

i'm 24 and i've had eye problems my whole life. i go to several different eye drs several times per year (way more when i'm having problems) and i ALWAYS get my eyes dilated.

It doesn't hurt in the slightest. But do take sunglasses with you as your pupils when dilated will not contract against bright light until the drops wear off, so you could be dazzled in sunshine.

They won't hurt, You just have to wear protective sunglasses because your pupils will be dilated and take in a lot more light than usual. I've had the same procedure. You'll be fine.

No, but bring the darkest sunglasses you own because you will be very light-sensitive afterwards.

No :) The drops will feel a little thick, but it will not hurt :) don't worry!

It's just like putting regular eye drops in your eyes, won't hurt at all. Don't stress it.

no, they just put some drops in your eyes. It might sting briefly, but no biggie.
