I went for blind for 3-4 minutes today.. Help?!

Question: I went for blind for 3-4 minutes today.. Help?
Hey,

So about 20 minutes ago I was in the shower and I was about to get out when I started feeling really dizzy. So I quickly turned off the tap and stumbled out. By the time I got out of the shower, I was starting to go blind and it took me about 30 seconds to walk to the bathroom sink. When I got to the bathroom sink, I was completely blind and this lasted for a minute or two. I then splashed water on my face and I started to regain my vision. However, everything looked like a picture.. As if it was contrasted... Like everything looked orange, black and red. Then I went blind again for twoish minutes. I then splashed water all over my face again and I regained my vision but it took a minute to look clear and not have that 'picture contrast' effect. I was going to call the ambulance and my dad but I couldn't see. Also, I was thinking about lying on the ground except I really didn't want to pass out.. I thought I was going to die.

I haven't been to the optometrist for 2-3 years now and lately my eyes have been straining for the past 2-3 weeks. I really wasn't able to do good in my exams because my eyes would strain in the first 15 minutes. On train platforms.. there are these computer things that tell us when the next train is going to come.. I can't read that from afar.. Only if I am directly underneath it. I can't read cereal boxes if I am 2-3 steps away.. Basically, I think my eye sight is going down hill.

Is this because I need glasses or is it because I am lacking a vitamin? I am iron deficient and I haven't been taking my iron pills due to my laziness.. I am really worried... :/

Anyone know what is happening?
Thank you, and have a good day.

Answers:

Oh my, you need to be screened for changes by your optometrist and your GP, sudden/painless vision loss can be a sign of a transient ischaemic attack, or optic neuritis, which are associated with malaria and MS.
That being said, certainly the easiest explanation is your iron deficiency, which should definitely be addressed immediately.

Optometrist.

I know noone nowadays has money to throw on a DR and even though iron deficiency seems logical it may not be the case please be checked out by an MD not necessarily an opthamologist because it can be a sign of a much more serious heart or neurological issue. I truely hope it isn't and I hope this finds you well and feeling better.

Definitely iron deficiency, or you're lacking in nutrients :/
The same thing use to happen to me - last year I went out to a state carnival in the middle of summer in New York City so you KNOW it was packed and there was no stopping. Well, right in the middle of walking, I just felt really dizzy, my lips starting to quiver and get a little cold, and not even the water I was drinking helped... so we had to rush to McDonalds and get food, and it pretty much ruined the day because it started to rain :/
SO a way you can avoid this happening to you is by taking those iron tablets, atleast to help you. You might also need glasses, if your eyes keep straining you for so long.
