Help! I always have blury vision with contacts and glasses no mater what I try?!

Question:

Help! I always have blury vision with contacts and glasses no mater what I try?

I got my new lenses in the post the other day and once again they are blury. not so bad for the 1st few days but then after that I am squinting again. It happens every time I get new lenses. If I get them straight away after having an eye test they are lovely and clear for a week but then they start getting blury again. So I go back to the optician for a contact lens check and get a stronger prescription and then have to wait for the new ones to come through. I get them every 3 months and sometimes by the time they arrive they are now the wrong precription. with lenses in I still spend most of my time with slightly blury vision. Which is annoying as I have to squint to read street signs, number plates and so on when i'm driving. At night its worse and I really struggle to see where I'm going. My prescription was -1.25 -1.25 in November,By march -1.5. -1.75, By May -1.75 - 1.75. In June -2 -2 now they are -2.25 -2.25. Why are they changing so quickly? what should i do?

Oh, and it happens with glasses too. I cant afford to keep updating my prescription. I know -2.25 -2.25 is not that bad but why are they changing so quickly???? Just 3 years ago i wasn't at all short sighted. Also the distance hat things bcome blury has gotten alot closer. Sorry to whinge. I know theres people with worse eye sight but why am I finding that glasses and contacts are unable to completely rectify my vision?

Answers:

wow. today is a bad day, apparently.

i will let you all in on a little secret: the "ophthalmologist" is not the answer to anything eye related unless you think you need SURGERY. ophthalmologists are SURGEONS. do you need surgery? if not, dont bother with an ophthalmologist.

most ophthalmologists are refraction idiots. they cant refract their way out of a paper bag. (refraction is the act of finding your Rx!!!). i am not joking you the vast majority of ophthalmologists DONT EVEN PERFORM REFRACTION. they have their TECH do it. you think i am joking, but i am 100% dead serious.

if you want to actually SEE, then if you're in the U.S. go to an optometrist, and if you're in the U.K. go to an optician.

myopia progression is annoying, and most ophthalmologists have no idea how to fix it. i dont even know of an ophthalmologist who properly fits contacts! much less knows what they are doing or understands myopia control. this MYTH that the ophthalmologist is the EYE GOD is completely wrong. an ophthalmologist is an eye surgeon. thats it. and most ophthalmologists are refraction idiots.

there. hows that for starting an OD/MD war? lol

myopia progression is poorly understood by the profession. there is some promise in RGP contacts and ortho-k:

other than that you have to find an optometrist/optician who you trust and just do what they tell you. going to the mythical magical ophthalmologist wont help...unless you need surgery.
