If i fall asleep whne my contacts in my eyes, occasionally i wake up with excess!

Question:

If i fall asleep whne my contacts in my eyes, occasionally i wake up with excessive "eye gunk" in my left eye.

What exactly is this? It's to the point where the eye is practically shut...

Answers:

your eye produces the "gunk" depending on what kind of skin type you have - it is the bacteria from your skin trashing your eyelids basically.

first of all, you need to make it a priority to take your contacts out when you sleep. they get excessively dry while you are asleep (as does your eye) and when it gets dry it gets harder, which will scrape the cornea (the front window on your eye). When this happens, you will be in so much pain and barely be able to open your eye. Seriously, you will cry.

IF that happens you need to go to an ophthalmologist - not your general medical doctor, not the emergency room - an ophthalmologist (not an optometrist, either).

Anyway, hope this helps. And believe me, you really do not want a corneal scratch.
