Is polycarbonate lenses thinner than high index?!

Question:

Is polycarbonate lenses thinner than high index?

both of my eye is -.9, I want my lenses to be as thin as possible? Which store do I go to? Thanks

Answers:

Your lenses will be thinnest in hi index. 1.74 index is the highest that I use, and we've had great results with high minus prescriptions like yours. Polycarbonate would be lighter, but thicker. Also, try to find a frame in which your eyes are well-centered. You want to avoid a frame in which your eyes are displaced toward the nasal side of the lenses.

Round/oval shapes will give you the thinnest lenses, and antireflection coating will greatly enhance the cosmetics of your eyewear, as the hi-index will "glare" more than plastic and poly.

As far as which store, I would go to the one where you got your prescription if possible. That way, if you don't adapt to your new eyewear, there is no "issue" about who should bear the cost of remaking your eyewear, as these lenses will be pretty expensive.
