Is it okay to store disposable contacts in tap water for a night?!

Question:

Is it okay to store disposable contacts in tap water for a night?

I am staying over at a friends house for the night. I found out that I left the stuff I usually use for my disposable contacts at home. It's late and I can't call to get any. Is it okay to put them in tap water for the night? We live in a good area, so the tap water is pretty clean.

Answers:

DON'T USE TAP WATER. You may think the tap water is clean in your area but no matter how clean you think it is, IT'S NOT. Tap water contains many minute microbes and also the tap water won't rid your contacts of the debris that has gathered on them throughout the day. Your contact lens solution contains enzymes that rid your contacts of harmful bacteria. Tap water just can't do this. If you can't borrow some solution from your friend, then throw the contacts away or you might risk infection from keeping them in the tap water.
