How old do you have to be to get the laser eye surgury???
I am 18 right now and i want to get it done whenever i can... i have been wearing glasses since 2ng grade and started to wear contacts in 6thi got made fun of most of my school years and i just hate not being able to see...i wear 6.50 to get 20/20 ... i remeber somone saying there was a certian age you have to be.. is that true .. and i think they said it was like 21 or somehting??

You can have Lasik at age 18, if you are a good candidate for the surgery. The best thing to do is to check with a qualified surgeon in your area. Most will do a preliminary assessment for free.
You will have to go at least 3 weeks without contacts before you can have the surgery. They can do the corneal thickness tests to be sure that you have enough "meat" in the eye to work with, before you spend three weeks without your contacts. I know that glasses are a pain, I had the exact same prescription as you (-6.50 contacts) and the three weeks before my surgery were basically a living hell!
I had the surgery almost 3 months ago. I am much older than you, and I really wish that it had been available when I was your age! It is the best thing that I have done in my life.(Marrying my wife comes in second) I now am seeing 20/20 without corrective lenses! My only regret is I did not do it sooner!
(My wife had the same surgery two weeks after I did, and feels the same way about it!)
