Spotting a week before period is expected -- on birth control?!

Question: I've been on birth control for over a year..
I had sex w/ my boyfriend a week ago and started spotting around three days later.. the spotting is still going on, and I'm not supposed to get my period until Tuesday.
This spotting has happened in the past, but I'm also psyching myself out thinking that its implantation bleeding.. is this common? Do women spot before their period?

I spot sometimes before my period. it only started happening when I started taking birth control too. Spotting in between periods is normal when your on birth control. my doctor told me that

Sometimes, and another reason you can start spotting is if you miss a pill. Your fine don't worry about it unless your in pain.

yes that is normal. it usually starts off sort of brownish and then gets red. when you see the first sign of color, that would actually be the 1st day of your cycle.

another possibility would be if you are having rough sex, that can also cause bleeding.

don't worry until your period is late*-*

spotting is normal before you start your period, on or off birth control

WELL WHEN OUR ON BIRTH CONTROL ANYTHING LIKE THAT CAN HAPPEN. i'VE BEEN ON BIRTH CONTROL FOR 5 YEARS NOW..I STARTED TAKIN THE SHOT AND I DIDNT HAVE MY PERIOD FOR MONTHS AND I HAD TO START TAKIN THE PILLS AGAIN TO GET MY PERIOD BACK. SO IT JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT KIND OF BIRTH CONTROL YOUR TAKIN..BUT YEAH..SOME WOMEN DO SPOT BEOFRE THEY START THEIR PERIOD AND THE BIRTH CONTROL DOES AFFECT THAT.
