Puberty+ Weight gain...?!

Question: I am 12 years old and I have just started going through that whole puberty thing. I have had my period but I havent had it for 3 months which is kinda making me scared. According to some articles I read *girls* gain weight during their period and it stays for awhile. Since my period I have gained 12kg and my mum said I will stay this way until my hormones settle down which she said would take up to anywhere from 3months to 3 years.

And before you ask... I am not pregnant!
Any suggestions to settle my hormones down?

just let time settle them, we all have to go through it, and also if you dont get your period for a few months the first time its just your body getting used to the period and the hormones. i've gained 11kgs since getting my period when i was 11 and its going now im 15 almost 16, its just takes time. Dont worry!?!?!?

what is 12kg poundage wise?
you're fine.
the weight will eventually go away.

girls your age do have odd cycle times, SOME doctors prescribe birthcontroll pills to regulate the cycle and that does work.
12 KG = 26.4 pounds

yeah relax it is all normal get used to it your little friend will be there every month for the next 35-40 years.

this happens now i am 16 n gaining weight again sux being a teenager your weight goes up then down then up...

people in puberty are the ones who sometimes get emotional and want to stay in the room all day. Either then talk on the phone or something, or play video games.. go out and exercise, but make sure you are wearing your bike helmet, even in the snow

No suggestions really. You just have to let it run its course. You gain weight because your body starts to change in form. And if you just got your period it's going to be very abnormal for a while. About the weight gain, just stay active and maintain a balanced diet. If you just want to settle your nerves then have a chat with your doctor.

you are a fat nasty and no one likes you at your school trust me i know

p.s. i touched your dads weeen it was cool

try to calm your self down . weight gain isn't bad. all you have to remmember is that you can still lose it. YOUR 12 YEARS OLD!

I'm nine and I gonna have my third period in January..puberty started at seven for me anyway, yes it does make you gain weight.flax seed oil would help the hormones get more balanced but it doesnt have a good taste trust me..
dont be scared of it I'm not scared O_O

It's normal not to have it for awhile. There are some cases where girls don't get their period for 8-9 months after their first period and they've it now...It's different for everybody.

About the weight, just make sure you eat healthy and you go to the gym often; you will be fine. Don't stress out too much!

sorry
that sucks
i have the same problem
im 14 and i gained 20 pounds so far!
i hate it
it mainly went to my thighs

Do not do anything to alter your hormone balance just yet.
But another thing to be alert to is that water retention is a problem with periods. Water retention problems are made worse if you have been consuming trans fats or are short on omega-3 fatty acids. Trans fats are bad because they prevent your cells doing a proper job of controlling the eamount of fluids inside the cells. Omega-3 fatty acids can assist in replacing those trans fats with proper cholesterol.

So avoid any food with trans fats, and include some flax or fish in your diet. (Flax has to be ground, or it just goes through you unused).
