See a nutritionist. Insurance will cover it.
A nutritionist will ask you many questions as many factors could be the problem. Yes, weight can be a problem as can diet and stress. How long has this gone on? Age? Weight? Height? It is not normal but not uncommon.
Stay away from refined foods, sugars, caffeine and eat more fruits and vegetables, esp. leafy greens and nuts like almonds (magnesium). Increasing your calcium and magnesium intake. Calcium helps calm the nerves and magnesium helps relax muscles and blood vessels. Caffeine depletes these essential minerals and can make
matters worse especially cramps, length of flow time and heaviness. Also, calcium and magnesium can help with anxiety, cramps, insomnia, headaches, moodiness, bloating and breast tenderness.

it lasts for a month? whoa, i never heard of that before. try consulting other doctors. i hope you find out soon. God Bless.

You bleed for months?

That is NOT normal. Being overweight usually decreases your period, if not stops it.

I would go see another doctor!

Give it some time. Being overweight (even slightly) CAN and WILL screw with your hormones. After you have lost the weight that your doc recommended, if there is still no change, ask her to run some more tests

GET A NEW DOC i dont think that is normal go to a new gynocologist plz

If you are getting rid of the weight and the bleeding continues go to a second Dr. because the first one could have missed something serious. My mom has suffered weight issues and other women I know, no one every complains about an extended period.

You can use birth control as a way to control when you have it and for how long. B/C isn't just to be used for sexually active people, it's also a great way to keep your monthly under control and predictable.

If your period is lasting that long you need to go and see a doctor. You could have anemia...which is an Iron Deficiency.
Go see someone!
A different doctor

This could be related to a hormone imbalance as one possibility. I would recommend getting another opinion, preferably from someone that does not share the same office of the doctor you currently see, about this bleeding issue to see what is going on.
