Birth control issues?!

Question: Well, a few years back I was on Ortho Tricyclen Lo. It was a very unpleasant experience. For the first month I was supposed to start taking it on the first sunday of my period. My period started on a sunday so I started taking it then. Normally I have an irregular cycle (33 to 38 days, with one that was 56 days), but that has been since I stopped. It wasn't that bad before I was on it. Well, I started taking the pill and my bleeding lightened up a little but I had another problem on my hands. I did not stop bleeding until the whole first pack was gone. I had a month long period. The second month I didn't have too many physical issues but I was a real B*tch. I'm not usually mean, even on my period. I would be fine from a little after taking the pill until about 18 hours after. That was the only time I ever argued with my parents. After that second month I stopped taking them. Now I want to go back on birth control but I don't want the hassle of those side effects again.

The same thing happened to me. I then went on the depo shot and it was fine I never got a period. But as much as I liked not having periods it felt weird not to have them so I am now on Yaz and I havent had any problems on it either so I would try those 2 options. Good Luck to you, I know it sucks trying to find the right birth control.

I was on the same pills and your right, they made me really irritable and moody. I also had severe leg cramps. My only suggestion is to learn to use and enjoy condoms. There are no backlash of hormonal effects with this method. Not to mention your not putting these weird harmful chemicals into your body.

Peace.

I had awful experiences with birth control too. I took it for one year. I wasn't "depressed" but I became really unhappy and unlively. It also made me lose a dangerous amount of weight and set my hormones all wacky. That being said, I think I'm anti pill. patch, or shot.

If you had problems like this before, you need to first of all talk to your gyno and ask for a different pill if you want to risk it again. My advice is to use an alternate method htat doesn't necessarily fluctuate your body hormones. Try one of the intra-vagina methods like a spiral or an ova-ring or something.

Tell your doc about the problems you experienced before and ask if there is an alternative option like an IUD or the shot.
