Spotting on the pill -- should I still get my period?!

Question: I've been on the pill for a year and a half, but I'm a little concerned..
I had sex with my boyfriend a little over a week ago, and several days later I started spotting. I've been spotting ever since (usually bright red, 'fresh' blood), though it has been stopping a little bit. I'm supposed to get my period within the next day or two, and am cramping like I always do -- but should I still expect it to come? I haven't missed a pill - I take it at the same time every day (with the exception of maybe one or two pills an hour later than usual)
I took a pregnancy test this morning even though I know it's still too soon to tell and it was negative. I'm superrr stressed about this..

Don't stress. As long as you have been taking your birth control regularly and not accidently missing days you are fine. Birth control can mess up your period for a long time. Spotting is normal. Usually your period becomes lighter when you are on birth control. When I got an IUD (different method but still bc) I spotted for 6 months straight!! You should be fine. If you continue to spot you might think about changing brands.
