Why is my birth control not helping with my acne?!

Question: i just started taking yasmin to help regulate things. i'm 2 weeks into my first pack. it isnt helping with my acne...is this because its only my first pack? or does it not really help that much with acne? should it be clearing up by now, does this mean that it wont?

My acne actually got worse about two weeks into taking the pill. But now after about 3 1/2 months it's better than it was to start. Just give it time.

Sounds like you just haven't been on the pack long enough. Give it time to work into your system.

Well, I know birth control takes at least one to three months to get your hormones and cycle going to start taking effect, so it probably will take at least that long to start showing improvements in your skin. Wait at least a couple months and see if you can tell any improvement.

side effects may very... i'm sure it says that somewhere... it's not guaranteed to clear up everyone's acne, consult your doctor and ask him/her how much longer you should take it to see if there's a better/cheaper/different option that might work for you

With birth control there are no guarentees. Regulating your homones could be key in controlling acne, if your hormones is what is causing the acne in the first place. First off, you need to be more patient than two weeks. Give it a month your two, it takes acne a while to clear up, and it could take your body that long or longer to regulate. Everyone is different. Think of it this way, a single pimple takes about two weeks to form before it actually shows up on your face, so its going to take a while for them to clear up, and the ones already starting to go through the process. Other factors could be causing acne, stress, lack of sleep (sleep is the best anti-inflamatory), etc.

because there birth control pills, not Clearasil

Takes a few months to see results
