Birth control pills and your period??!

Question: I started BCP for the first time. I took the first pill yesterday during the first 24 hours of the first day of my period this month. Before I took it I was bleeding heavily with clots and such. When I woke up this morning, it looks like I've stopped bleeding.

Does your period stop once you start taking the active pills? Do you just stop your period once the hormone gets in you? If so, what happens to the rest of the stuff that was supposed to come out of you while you were on your period?

It is possible the heavy part was just over. It normally does not have an effect on that, so I have a feeling it was just a coincidence. Your period will continue and your body will get everything out.

some people don't have a period while on BCP. i'm on the shot and it causes me 2 stay on 4 an entire month while others may not come on at all. but the extra estrogen cause the bleeding 2 clot, slow down or stop completely.

The pill tricks your body into thinking it's already pregnant. So, yes, the active pills will cause your period to cease. It should start again when you reach the end of the pack and before you start the new one.
