Donating blood on Gardasil?!

Question: I had my first Gardasil (Cervical Cancer and HPV Vaccination) shot about 3 weeks ago. Is it okay that i donated blood yesterday, or should i contact the Red Cross and tell them to discard my blood?

When you went to give blood, a nurse should have interviewed you. Among other things, you should have been asked about medications you take and recent immunizations. I don't know about Gardasil in particular, but I do know that you have to wait a few months after some vaccinations before giving blood.

Call them and let them know, if it didn't come up in the interview. They'll know whether it's OK to donate within three weeks of Gardasil.

my oppinion is that it wouldnt be a good idea
but i dont know

if they asked you what medication you are/were on and mentioned the gardasil then it's fine...as I would, I'm assuming you didn't mention it. It might be a good idea to just call them and check to see if it's ok...my thoughts are that they will not want to use your blood. but I have no clue how long gardasil lasts in you system

You should tell them ANYTHING you are taking so they can state if you should donate or not.

IMO you should call them up ASAP about your blood donation and that you are in between your first and second shot of Gardasil to see what they say.
