Abnormal pap?!

Question: My Dr. called me last week to tell me that I couldn't have my IUD inserted because the results from my pap came back abnormal & possibly cancerous. Now I am going in tomorrow for a Colposcopy.

my question is, has anyone else had this done, and what were your results?

I've never been so scared in my life (I'm so nervous I haven't slept a wink all night), my husband and I just had our first child in March. We want to have another child in a few years... I'm terrified that something will happen that will not allow me to have children anymore...

Thanks Ladies... in advance.

Try and relax even if it is cancer it might be just tiny and they can remove a small portion or freeze it no biggie.

I had a tumor in my uterus the only way to tell what it was I had to have it removed I elected to have a complete hysterectomy I was 40 turned out to be non cancerous it was a fibroid. He told me I would never get that tumor again but I could get others and since I was not planning to have any children I should consider a hysterectomy.

I always wanted to have children but I was never able to conceive he also discovered I had endometriocis (spelling?)
so bad one of my ovaries was wrapped around my colon.. No wonder my periods were so bad.

I know it is hard not to panic but that will get you nothing and it won't change a thing. If you have been getting checked regularly I am sure it is not as bad as you think. Good luck and God Bless

i've had this happen 3 times, and all three times the colposcopy came back fine. don't get bent out of shape about it; you're probably fine.

I have had this procedure done and was worried about it, too. When the results came in, I was fine. Anytime someones pap comes back "suspicious", the Gynecologist recommends a Colposcopy to rule out cancer. It is a somewhat uncomfortable procedure to have done and you will have to wear pads for a couple of days due to bleeding (assuming you typically wear tampons, that is), which is much lighter than when you're having your period.

Anyway, as difficult as it may seem, try not to get worked up about it because you might end up making yourself sick and that can lead to other health issues.

Hope this helps, if even just a little bit. Good luck, I hope it goes well for you!
