LoEstrin fe 24. Has anyone had this?????!

Question: I just started LoEstrin fe 24 after 9 years on Ortho Tri Cyclen (and two months on Ortho Cyclen). The reason I switched is that I was having 9-10 day long periods.
Since switching to LoEstrin, I've had breakthrough bleeding. The first month I had it for 20 days!!! I'm on my second month of it now, and I have been bleeding for 5 days and counting. I'm in the third week of the pack. My question is: has anyone else had this and kept with it, and in a few months saw the results you want? The 3 day period?? My doctor wants me to stick with it for a few more months, but this is killing me! It is putting a huge damper on my social life with my hubby! :) Thanks in advance.

LoEstrin fe 24 does allow you to have a shorter cycle. As with any pill break through bleeding is common the first three months as your body adjusts to the normal hormones in your system. With this pill specifically it is very important to take the pill at exactly the same time every day. When you vary the time the medication is taken it will sometimes cause bleeding also. It is a very sensitive pill, even taking the pill a couple of hours later or earlier the next day can cause bleeding. Yaz does the same thing. You might want to try taking it at 9pm every night for a week to see if it makes a difference. Good Luck. Also, the "fe" indicates that there is extra iron in this pill.

I am not sure why the doc wants you to stick with it but this is something you need to decide for yourself whether you trust that this will straighten out or not. As for your social like why not try a menstrual cup to catch the bleeding or just ignore it and pad the bed with towels and have some fun anyway then shower up together afterwards.

I just started Loestrin as well and have been bleeding all month!!! You might want to try Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo..I was on that before and am going back, this is rediculous!! Good luck...I feel your pain! :)

Be very careful on this drug LoEstrin. It can cause anemia, plus you might have teeth damage..gum damage because of it.

You should ask your doctor for an ultrasound for fibroids. No pills will work if you have fibroids. This is probably why you have breakthru bleeding. It might go into clots.

So get the ultrasound. Be sure to take something for anemia, cuz you are losing too much blood.

If you have fibroids, there are many solutions, including the UAE. Be sure to research everything before preceding, and do what is best for you.
