How long after you stop taking birth control are you no longer safe?!

Question: I quit taking the pill only because I was having every side effect possible and my husband of 2 months couldn't handle it all....I couldn't either.
So we are trying other things and so far I HATE THEM! We have tried condoms, sponges, female condoms...you name it we have tried...except doctor stuff..IUD and shot and whatever else there is!
We don't have insurance till the begining of the year and then I want to get on yasmin(spell?)or something better then everything I have been on...I was on the pill 3 months before we got married and have been off for over a month now....
Am I still safe to have unprotected sex? Or would I end up pregnant...we aren't wanting kids for atleast 1 year...

Thanks

Well, since you're married, and a kid wouldn't be the end of the world.... you might try the rhythm method. Don't have sex when you are ovulating and make him pull out every time anyway. I can't take birth control either. It makes me insane. And I am allergic to condoms. The foams make my "down there" red and swollen. You name it and I'm the one who's tried it (including Yaz, and you might as well not bother, considering your history).

I've been thinking about using the non-hormonal IUD.... but I can't until my cancer screens come back. If you ask your doctor to help you (or figure it out online) you can chart a course. My husband and I call them "Black Out Days." Those are days where he's not even allowed to hug me too close, lol! So far, it's worked just fine. The emergency foam, well, I keep that on hand just in case we forget ourselves.... but I really hate using it because it irritates my who-ha.

Good luck, girl.

I would suggest putting up with condoms until you are a month into your new pills. You can get pregnant the month you go off BC. It often times takes your body longer to get back into regulating itself, but not for everyone.

To be safe as safe can be, use a condom. I know they aren't the best...But it's better than a screaming baby..Am I right?! Since you don't have to wait too long for your insurance to kick in, that's my suggestion. You might be ok not to get pregnet, but usually you have to be on BC for at least six months to one year for it to be proporly in your system.
