Tampon Help?!

Question: Do you have any advice for using tampons. And what brand do you use the most?

Answers: Do you have any advice for using tampons. And what brand do you use the most?

tampons are easy to use & are much better then pads allthough i wouldnt use tampons overnight very dangerous. here in oz we have good brands like libra, kotex, etc, but i dont like to use cheap brands. If you havent used them before i would suggest getting tampons that have a applicator with them, thats what i got the first time & they have instructions on how to use them inside the pack. I also use a panty liner when using them for any leakage. depending on your flow you can get super for heavy flow, regular for regular flow & light for light flow. like i said before dont use them over night use pads when you sleep. hope this helps

i dont use tampons im a guy

dont use tampons, they HURT. use a pad. trust me. i would no

for heavy try Playtex sport!

They are very very comfortable!
and for lights
Pearls(extra lights)

Never get scented ones!

change them often

I like playtex or pearl, kotex is ok. i prefer the disposable applicators. As far as advice, im not sure, dont use the wrong absorbency for the wrong days i suppose.

try moistening the tip before inserting. like a bit of lubricatin. goes in easier. i use tampax.

I use Kotex Regular the most, just because they work well and cost a little bit less than Playtex.

No advice, it's common sense, really. Just make sure you're using the correct absorbancy for your flow. I use tampax, and if I were you I'd use any brand with an applicatior, they're much easier than the brands without.

i use o.b. the ones without the applicator, they're the easiest to put in..

If you're a beginer, I would choose o.b.
They're small and easy to use.
With no appilcator.

As a first timer, I would use something like playtexx silk or something that says it is 'easy glide' with a rounded tip.....they are easier to insert. Go wit ha junior size at first. Though you will have to change it more frequently, it is much smaller. There is no need to go with a super size unless you have a very heavy flow. A regular or smaller is all you will need.
After that, just follow the directions and make sure to take it out every 4-6 hours.
Also, for the first couple of times, try some vaseline at the tip to make it easier to insert. good luck!

When using tampons, make sure you're relaxed it's not going to kill you. lol. My fav brand is Kotex. Good luck

never buy the sneted ones and try to wear them after the first 2 days of your period. They will feel most comfortable.

depending on your body type and how active you are.
if you are slim, there are thinner slender tampons made
my playtex. i reccomend using or starting with a plastic
applicator, they hurt less to insert. try sitting down to do so,
and i recomend using them only through the 1-3 days of
mennunstration...they tend to be painful to take out if
they are somewhat 'dry'. happy days =]
OH right, i used pearl =]

I have used Tampax for over 30 years. I tried other brands but they were not as absorbent as Tampax.

As for instructions, they are on the insert inside the box. I think all brands have instructions inside the box.

My advice on tampons would be to remember that if you try to put one in when you are having a very low flow, or not having your period at all, they do suck up any moisture inside there and can become stuck to the walls inside of you.

This is nothing to be scared of, just get some vaseline or lotion or something like that, and stick your finger in there and run it around the sides of yourself and then you'll be able to pull it right out.

This doesn't normally happen during a period, unless you put one in and then try to take it out again right away.

Seems lots of girls go through that when they first start using tampons, so I thought I'd mention it in case it happens to you.

P.S. As for putting it in, you'll know you've done it right when you cannot tell it's in there. You won't be able to feel it. If you can feel it, or it hurts, it's not in right, probably not far enough in.

I have used tampons for over 15 years. They are wonderful!

Here's my advice:
1. Wash your hands FIRST!!!
2. If you are new at this, use a tampon with an applicator.
3. Make sure you have enough of a period flow that you aren't dry down there.
4. sit on the toilet with your knees spread, and hold the tampon applicator at the base and put it in. Then push the applicator part up, and the tampon goes into place.
5. You'll know it's in the right place when you can't feel it at all!
6. Throw out the applicator and wash your hands.
7. wear a thin pad just in case the tampon leaks.
8. Change the tampon every 4 hours or so.

Tampons are pretty easy to use once you get used to them. If this is going to be your first time using them, I recommend using the smallest possible size (lites, juniors, slims) something along those lines. The box will have directions in it but just to sum it up:

1.) Stand with one foot propped up on the toilet
2.) Hold the tampon between your thumb and forefinger
3.) Insert the tampon at a slight angle (because our bodies are angled) until your thumb and forefinger touch your labia
4.) Once your fingers are touching your labia push the applicators of the tampon into one another - this will leave the tampon inside you with the string hanging out. The applicators can then be thrown in the garbage
5.) Change your tampon every 3-6 hours to prevent toxic shock syndrome, and always uses the smallest possible for your flow.
6.) The tampons themselves can be flushed but I don't recommend it as they have been known to plug toilets... just wrap in some toilet paper and throw them in the garbage.

As far as brands go I absolutely LOVE the playtex gentle glides and the playtex sports (these come with plastic applicators which are easier to use than cardboard).

Hope this helps. :-)

read through the instructions on the box and i like tampax libra carefree or ob tampax have aplicators i dont know about kotex we dont have them in australia we dont have playtex either

They have one called a "slim fit"... it's either Tampax or Playtex. I prefer the OB ones when I have spotting, (but I haven't had a period in five years), but I'm pretty comfortable with my body and inserting them (they don't have an applicator... less mess) See the question I just answered a bit ago about tampon problems.

Try a bit of sterile lubricant for insertion issues.

I'll second or third the people who said that to start out, use the "junior" or "lite" absorbencies. Different brands are differently shaped, so try until you find one you like; don't assume just because Tampax didn't fit right that O.B. won't, or whatever. I happen to prefer the plastic applicators, but that's very much a personal preference. Try and see.

I find that for the first few days, I can't wear tampons at all; it makes me cramp worse. Fortunately, you can change things around til you find what works for you.

I like the silk ones..they are easier to insert and I think tampons are good for people who don't have heavy periods...or you could use tampons on the last few days as well..
