I'm Really Scared (Period question)?!

Question: Kinda icky so girls and mature boys only.
So I'm 15 and perfectly healthy. Well except for one little problem, my periods last way too long. They use to be a week long, normal right? But now they last for a month or two, but its not like its heavy or even the normal flow, it lighter. I don't feel any weaker or much different, then again this has been happening for so long I don't know what normal is! But then for the past week, its been coming really heavy and then today at school I could actually feel it coming out, like every 10 minutes I'd feel some come out. On a normal period its normal to feel it sometimes but this was intense. Then when I got home and changed my pad, it was all covered when most of the time only a fourth or a little more is. I'm really scared that something is wrong with me and would rather not go to the doctor's. And near the end of last year my period skipped for like 3 months. Could that be the cause of this? Please Help me.

Backing up on my previous answer, I'm glad that you are not pregnant.
Most young women's menstrual cycles during the first 5 years are not normal.
A normal menstrual cycle lasts about 5-7 days and every 28 days starting from the first day of your last cycle.
There are many things that can affect your period such as diet, exercise or stress. Eventually your body will adjust and you will be just fine.
The gushing is okay. It happens and you just need to have extra pads/tampons on those days.
I still suggest that you see a female nurse practioner or doctor.

It's not unusual for young girls' periods to be a little wacky. You might have to see your doctor to find out if there is something he/she can do to get your cycle back to normal.

i know that you would rather not see a dr but you really need to!!!! this could be serious and is totally NOT normal so plz plz plz go see your dr

definitely not normal to bleed so long, you REALLY should see a doctor, preferably a gynecologist.

i had almost the same thing but mine lasted for 2 years straight. my obgyn put me on a birth control ring for two months. it helped me stop. and stay stopped. it's been 3 months without any bleeding at all. you should see a doc.

Young girls' periods often act weird. You should go see your doctor, eventhough you don't want to. It's not that bad and your doctor may be able to give you some medications that will make your period normal again.

Irregular periods are quite common for girls your age, but if you've been bleeding for over a week you need to tell your mum! Then go to the doctor. It's ok to make an appointment with a lady doctor instead of your usual.

You need to see your doctor, you are hemoraging, do you understand that? HEMORAGING that means that the inside of your uterus is continuing to bleed and not stopping and if left sooner or later you will die. I have been there. I left it far to long, thinking that sooner or later it would quit on its own, but it didn't, it cost me the right to have more children. I had to have a hysterectomy, the inside of my uterus was just like hamberger and would never have stopped bleeding on its own. Please go to the doctor, if you are young and haven't had children yet don't wait one more day. Please hurry. Good Luck
