Sometimes, leaving a tampon in for hours and hours can increase the risk of infection. Usually, if this occurs, you will notice a foul-smelling discharge, itching or burning. Some women forget about a tampon and it may stay in for days -- or even weeks. Usually, this will produce vaginal irritation and an infection that is easily cleared up once the tampon is removed. Toxic Shock Syndrome is rare, but serious illness caused by a staph infection. The symptoms include a sudden high fever, diarreah, vomitting, sun-burn rash, muscle aches, etc.. If you are experiencing these symptoms following tampon use, consult a doctor immediately.
Ideally, you should change a tampon every four to six hours. I recommend wearing a pad overnight. Before you change a tampon, you should wash your hands to decrease the odds of introducing any type of infection.

I used to do it all the time, and hey- I'm still alive.
I'm a really light sleeper (4-6hrs)... so If you like to sleep in for a while, maybe it's not a great idea.

It's not recommended but yes...Put it in right before you go to bed and remove it right when you wake up. I used to do it all the time-I'd put in a tampax pearl super and leave it in thru the night...Then I started getting yeast infections after every period...so i stopped the night time routine...

If you dont have any side effects- yes.
I know i cant use them for more than an hour or two because i get really bloated and crampy.

use a junior or slim fit tampon and you should be fine. Just make sure to take it out as soon as you wake up.

I've always left mine in over night and never had a problem. You're not supposed to leave it in for more than 8 hours, so if you're planning on crashing hard you should just use a pad. I also don't recommend using a generic tampon; my doc told me the risk of TSS goes up dramatically.

Technically speaking, a tampon should not be left in the vagina for more than 8 hours. So if you sleep less than that you will be fine. The max i would leave it is 12, after that time you start putting yourself at risk of toxic shock syndrome, where the blood from your period actually starts poisoning the body. Its potentially fatal and although i havent heard of any cases personally, im sure it does happen. Just be careful you should be fine to leave it for 8 hours whilst you sleep, however during a heavy period i wouldnt advise it.

I do it all the time. If you have used tampons for a while without any reactions (allergies and such) then overnight should be fine. Some people are more or less sensitive to them, you would know if they are going to bother you by now. It should be fine.

i do it, and i think its ok if you change right before you go to bed, and right when you get up, based on an 8 hour night, also use the lightest tampon you can get away with
