First Period-tampons?? (girls only)?!

Question: I got my first period on wednesday and I want to use tampons already (pads are just disgusting) I tried once an hour ago but when I started to put it in (i'm a wuss I got like a cm of it in :P) it hurt so I stopped. I am probably not even trying but I really dont want it to hurt!

So question: Does it hurt while you're putting it in?-for the first time?

I'm sure I put it in the right hole...the middle one.

Get yourself Tampon easy glides which are a much smoother rounded plastic. It would be easier if your sort of wet down there like with a heavier flow so it glides in easier. You NEED to make sure you are relaxed. Practice relaxing and tightening up so you are familiar with what if feels like to be relaxed. If your are nervous your probably not relaxed and thats why it hurts. Good luck

PS-the one in the middle is the right one...

Also you cant push the tampon farther then the applicator will let you. So dont worry about pushing it too far in. When its not in enough it hurts. Push it as far as the applicator will let you and the string will still be long... dont worry :)

It'll be better if you're full flowing. You need to make sure your body is relaxed. You probably were making yourself contract without knowing it.
RELAX!!

yes if your new to it but its best to use pads when you first start your period then as you get used to it use tampons

watcha mean the middle one?

u need to relax and make sure you are putting it in the right place if not it WILL hurt

It shouldn't hurt. Make sure you're using ones that are right for your flow. Also, plastic applicators are better than cardboard ones. Cardboard can be uncomfortable to insert. Make sure you insert it proporly and relax while you do it. If you're tense then it won't work right.

You'll know it's in right when you can't feel it. Make sure the string is hanging out. They make tampons just for teens which are smaller than regular, old lady, ones. he he Try those ones out.

Lol.
I know pads are gross and leave your vagina all bloody and you have to use a bunch of toilet paper.
But, it shouldn't hurt while you put it in for the first time. You should go from pads to tampons.....but if you really want to put a tampon in dont be affraid leave it in for about 30 mins take it out witht that string and do that for about 2hrs or just until you get use to having a tampon in.

And Congrats on becoming a WOMAN!

It can hurt/feel uncomfortable. Try using a mirror just to better see what you're doing. It may take a couple tries. I know this sounds gross but sometimes it's because the tampon's too dry. I know that it hurt for me at first. Try putting a little bit of vasiline on the tip of the tampon.. .not a lot. That helped me. And you're right that pads are disgusting. Don't get discouraged. . .it may take a few tries. Also don't forget that you can't put it in too far.. .but if it's not in all the way it will be uncomfortable.

when i started my period i was a virgin and my doctor said that it would not be comfortable because of the skin that people call your cherry ,it was painful when i tried to use tampons I just used pads even if i did not care for them also keep in mind that you can get toxic shock syndrom from tampons please find the web site on that to explain further

I suggest Tampax Pearl tampons, they go in smooth. Get either 'regular' size or if they have 'lites' you might try those at first they are smaller, but you'll have to change them more often as they don't hold as much. Relax your body, go slowly, and angle it as if you were aiming between the middle to lower part of your back. Don't force it or push too fast, if it's angled right it will start ro slide in and not hurt. It might feel like some pressure but it shouldn't hurt. Same with removing it. It might feel funny or like pressure since you're not used to that sensation. You'll be alright, and congratulations. : ) Go eat some ice-cream and baby yourself.

Look it definitely does not hurt if you do it right, I promise. Probably you are using too big a tampon, if its your first time your flow will be light anyway so youll only need a light absorbancy tampon. Use an applicator brand as well and look at the diagram on the packet so as to see exactly how to do it, better than I could describe.

Also - RELAX. If you are tense those very important and powerful muscles can tighten up and contract which would make your vagina smaller and cause problems getting it in.

Well I know that I waited about 6 months before I starting using tampons. ( i agree pads are absolutely horrible) but it shouldn't really hurt. Make sure that you are using the smallest size, relax, and it should work out. I think that it is kinda in your head a little too so if you are really freakin out then wait a little longer to use them. Trust me it will not take long for you to get tired of using pads which will give you more motivation to get over your fear. Good luck sweetie.

I can't stress it enough; you need to RELAX!
If you aren't relaxed you'll tense up down there and it won't go in at all. So calm down, sit there with it and wait until you're totally happy about doing it.
Then when you put it in, make sure you push it in at least *one inch* or you'll be able to feel it after and that's not comfortable.
xx

yes it does cause ur body isn't used to anything up there? or is it? LOL

dont think about it so much.. for me it didnt hurt .. just relax and try again ur probably doing it right even for ur first time
