Same problem had with me. I started when I was 8. Why should an 8 year old get her period ga. I was sorta freaked. I knew I had to tell her... I went from June to October buying my own stuff (do you know how weird it is at that age???) Then finally it's like, omg, I am lost. I decided not to say in person. I just emailed mom at work (she can't freak out in front of boss hehe) So I'm like pick up some tampons (i think pads are nasty) She said okay. We never talked about it. Now at 14, it's great. Only thing I asked is her not tell anyone. Our family is a freaking grapevine. Leave a note on her pillow or just say hey mom can we talk. Talk about boys, school, and say oh yeah I need pads/ tampons. She may get excited, don't push away, you'll do the same to your kid one day.

That stinks that you feel afraid to tell your mom! Some one needs to help you so that you have supplies every month and your doctor should know so that you can be sure that everything goes normally, I mean how would you know? Can you talk to the nurse at school? Good luck honey, welcome to womanhood!

All women deal with periods so why are you scared to tell her? She's probably waiting for you to tell her so she can help you with any questions or concerns you may have. Don't be scared, just tell her.

Of course you should tell her shes your mum. Dont be afraid im sure if you explain to her that you would like it to stay just between herself and you she will honour that. Why would she be shocked? Shes a woman herself and has gone through exactly the same thing! Its a part of life sweetheart, something all women go through so dont be afraid.
