Help.. tips/suggestions please?!

Question: I haven't had a natural period in over a year and a half. I am insulin resistant.. and I am on Metformin, I have lost 40 lbs.. and still no natural period. My doctor has gave me provera last month, I had a period- but nothing since. That was early November. My husband and I would like to have a child, but It's so hard to track ovulation without a regular period.. or even one at all. I took an ovulation test the 17th of this month, it said I was ovulation.. we had sex 12 or the 13th and every day before that. Then he left for work.. my chances of being pregnant if I was ovulating then are slim.. but they are there.

Is there any way I can become more regular with my period- or anyway to make it easier to conceive? Any tips would be appreciated.

First off CONGRATS ON LOSING 40LBS. That's a triumph in itself.

Second it takes time for the body to start doing it's own thing when you have PCOS. Technically speaking those of us who have PCOS produce TOO MUCH insulin, which in return plays hell with ovulation.

I would start by doing BBT (Basal Body Temperatures) Make sure you by that particular thermometer. It comes with a chart, and you take your temp every morning before you get out of bed. By charting your temps this gives your doctor a better understanding on what is going on. You maybe ovulating but ovulating too late in your cycle. Which is fixable. You can ask your doctor too start you on Clomid, which will help you ovulate. But start by getting at LEAST 2 SOLID months of temps.

Most of us that have this problem do ovulate, but the eggs never reach full maturation (maturity) which Clomid will help with.

Keep a journal of medication you take and when you take them as well as time. So your doctor can compare it with your BBT chart. Help them help you. If your not seeing an infertility specialist then you may consider finding one.

I hopes this helps.
