Any advice for achey joints?!

Question: Lately my joints have been aching, particularly in my legs and lower back. It's painful to walk and even to just stand; not unbearably painful, just uncomfortable, and I can't stand as straight as I used to. I'm only 22 and in good health, so I'm not sure what could be wrong. I'm not heavy, and I live in Hawaii, so it can't be the weather. I don't want to go to the doctor because I have no health insurance, and it's not too serious. I've been working out, but I make sure to stretch after. Any advice for helping my achey joints?

It could be a virus if it is a recent onset..I just got over this. My muscles ached for two weeks and finally got better.

Some home remedies are actually to stay active--that may be best achieved by swimming.

Deep tissue massage.

Oh, and I will find a way to get rid of your pain forever if you fly me to Hawaii...

Stretching.

Apply heat and then ice to the area.

Take Tylenol. Soak in a warm bath with Epson Salts. Use a heating pad.

Chiropractics (Although they can be costly)

Decease stress in your life

I've found that the more I remain still, the more the joints tend to act up.

you should either put ice on your achey joints or use a heat pack for them

do you stand a lot during the day? also, i guess working out might cause it, but it sounds more like a muscle issue than a joint issue.

Hmmmm, i think u mite have flat feet. I run track and cross country and after running my knees would ache n sometimes swell. Flat feet disrupt ur whole bodies alignment and loweer back and knee pain are classic symptoms of flat feet. I advise u to get orthotics. I jus got mine today and i feel great. I can feel my knees being "set" in the proper alignment.

relax. are you stressed? take a hotHOT bath, sooth yourself. go to a spa. achey joints usally mean you have been using them to much. or have been straining them. so RELAX

Try Motrin, it works for me. Also, you should be stretching before and after exercising. ;) I'd go to the doctor regardless if it persists, just in case.

srry ..lo..im out of idaes... good luck

May be you need new shoes or thicker socks- more support for your feet.
Do you have a slight fever with it or does food taste funny. You could have a low grade infection.
Drink plenty of water and eat a vitamin and mineral rich diet- lots of veggies.

You should take a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, like aspirin, motrin, tylenol, or naproxen. It could be some kind of arthritis, but since you don't have insurance, you can't get diagnosed with it now.

Hmm there are a number of possible problems you may have, being so young.

1) You may not be getting enough calcium.
2) There might be another vitamin that you're low on.
3) It could be the result of a recent change in physical activity.

How to help it?
1) Try not to overwork your joints.
2) use an anti-inflamatory like ibuprofin
3) Apply a heating pad or use muscle/joint pain gel.

The best way to know is to get a checkup. If you don't have insurance, they should give you a discount.

try the joint heath tablets from the drugstore for under $20
