Do I have a viable pregnancy, experienced opinions please...?!

Question: Here's what happened. I went off birth control in October. I had a period on 11-2 (7 days) another one on 11-16 (7 days long) and another on 11-26 (3 days long). I started having sharp pain on my left side on 12-7. I was concerned that I was either having an ectopic pregnancy, or I had a cyst (I've had a few). I thought I started my period on 12-14 because I was bleeding enough for me to think it was one. I took a cheep pregnancy test on 12-17 and it was positive. I called my doctor right away and she had me go to the hospital for a quant HCG test. It came back as 50. She said it was too low to be a viable pregnancy, especially after having a positive preg. test. She said I had probably already miscarried, I just need to wait to re-test. I went back on Thursday 12-20 and got tested again. It was 375. The only person I got ahold of said it was normal, maybe a little high, to re-test on 1-3 and see what the results are. Has anyone had a really low number in the beginning?

Yes I have. and unfortuantely for me I had a miscarriage. Mine went up then back down my HCG Test. They need to do an ultrasound to be sure of a miscarriage b/c it sounds like you had implantation bleeding. I didn't have any nausea or vomiting but I did have swollen painful breast and fatigue. What are your symptoms?? I would get a second opinion just for your sanity and not to worry yourself to death.

a pregnancy causes this hormone to be produced, that's why they test for it.....the dr thinks that because you are bleeding, you have had a miscarriage and that's a good thing because 40% of all pregnancies are miscarried and many women do not even know it. when things aren't quite right, the body miscarries a defective embryo. the accuracy of the test goes up as the pregnancy progresses and there are less false positives, that is why they are suggesting you test again...ps in the old days, you waited until you missed a period and then went in for a urine test.....at around 5-6 wks, it's very accurate.

I think you should go to the doctor and get an exam, jsut to be on the safe side. If it is not viable then you need to do things to take care of your health. If it is viable, then you need to do things to take care of the baby's health. A doctor's exam is the best way to be sure.

I did not know it,but when I got PG with my last son I had pelvic inflammatory disease. When I got PG I felt a very sharp pain in my left side, because of the cyst inside my Fallopian tubes caused from the fertilized fetus travailing down the tube.
