Period a week early but on birth control?!

Question: I have been on birth control for nine months now. I always have my period on the exact same day of every month. This past month I didn't take a few of my pills (due to personal reasons.) So anyway, I was spotting yesterday, and I am bleeding pretty well today. I wasn't supposed to start until next Thursday. Is this "breakthrough bleeding" or my period? I am also worried about pregnancy. Any thoughts? Btw I am very aware of the consequences of my actions.

The best information you can get would be from reading the insert that comes with your birth control prescription. For instance, on Yasmin (the one I am on), if gives a break down of what may happen if x number of pills are missed and how high the risk of pregnancy is.

If you cannot find your insert, search the web. There are many uploaded online for you to read.

Giving the name of the BC you are on might help people answer your question better. :)
