Answers: How did you tell your mom about your first period? What was your mom's reaction?

I have a hard time with words so i wrote a note....and left..try that..its so less embaressing..

I just told her I took some of her tampons ( I knew where she kept them, under her bathroom sink) so she might want to get more. She was like, you took my tampons? and I was like yeah, and she said you know how to use them? and I said yeah, and then she asked me when I started and how often I should change them and I knew all that stuff already so she was just like... ok

I just told her. Mine seemed upset since I wasn't a little girl anymore. I didn't even find out about this stuff from her.

However, this was in the mid 1960s so times have changed. I didn't react that way when my daughter started her period. For me it was more like "OK, do you have everything you need? How do you feel?"

I told her that when I went to the bathroom that day there was something brown in my underwear... she knew where to take it from there.

I just said 'I think I have my period.' She wasn't exactly surprised and just asked my if I needed a pad. No big deal!

i told my mom i am on my period.

I showed her the spots on my underwear and asked, "Is this it?" ("it" meaning my period). She got all excited and proud--she got on the phone and told my grandmother, which was a little embarassing...but it made me feel grown-up, too. :)

just tell her, point blank. i PROMISE she is already comfortable with the suject, there is no need to be shy about it. it is just a natural part of every woman's life... Welcome to womanhood

just tell her I told my mom as soon as i got it

i was like mom i bleading in my area .

she said lets go to the the store and get some pads

I was crying because I was very immature when I was 12 and I didn't want to become a woman. My mom found me in my room crying and asked me what was wrong, and I wailed, "I got my period!" She hugged me and was like, "Oh, honey! That's great! Let's go out to eat!!" so we got burgers and shakes and she told me all about birth control. Fun, right? :P
