Question: So I want to get a IUD. Put i would like to know how long it takes and what they do, if it was painful or not. Please be honest. My OBGYN just tells me we need to talk about it, it bc i was sexual assaulted awhile ago. So she is looking out for me. I'm on the pill but it hurts my tummy. I want one less pill to take right now. I have been on depo and i gained weight. I'm just now loseing it. So if you can please help me. Please be nice with your answers. Have a happy hoildays! Thank you for answering it means alot to me! I, myself, havent had one but one of my friends does. She said that it has slipped out of her a couple of times and that one time, when she was having sex, it came down and scraped up the guy really bad. She was in a lot of pain as well for a couple of days. You might want to talk to the OBGYN about this to see how often it may happen. There is also the newer birth control called Implanon that lasts for 3 years, maybe that would help also......good luck

Have you tried the ring? My girlfriend is on the ring, and she seems to be more than ok with it. The IUD is more for women who are in STABLE sexual relationsihps, and most doctors won't give it to young females. Usually, it's a requirement from your doctor that you keep one sexual partner for the entire process. Do you think you'll be with the same guy for the next 3-5+ years?
