I understand you all too well. Every month, I have terrible cramps that literally keep me in bed. Here are a few remedies for you to try:

1. HEAT!! whether it be a hot water bottle or heating pad, it doesn't matter. Personally, the disposable heating pads that attach to your underwear (you can get them at a drugstore, I believe ThermaCare makes them) work best for me.

2. OTC pain relievers like Tylenol or Motrin are helpful. DON'T TAKE ASPIRIN, which thins the blood and may make you bleed more.

3. While exercise may help for some, I find that I have to lay down and just let them pass; sometimes, they're just too severe to move around. I attach the heating pad to my panties, take some Tylenol, shut the lights, and try to find a comfortable position in bed until the pain subsides.

4. Massage the area/have someone massage it for you. (After the heating pads, this provides me the most relief.)

5. Drink plenty of water and avoid caffeine at all costs.

6. I have also noticed that watching TV or reading a magazine helps sometimes because it focuses your mind on something other than the pain.

I hope these help! Feel better soon!

drink alot of water.
take a hot bath or shower.
and stay away from caffeine.
hope i helped!

Hi!

1. Medication-midol, tylonel

2. Try putting a heating pad over your stomach, that occasionaly helps.

3. Have someone press on your stomach. Im serious, i didnt believe that, but when i had someone do it for me, i was cramp free for hours.

4. Excersise and water. It has been proven that both of these will reduce cramps.

=)

Use a heating pad. Take a hot shower...you'll get some relief for at least a little while after the shower. Drink raspberry tea if you have some....it has antiprostaglandins which stop cramps b/c theyre cause by prostaglandins.

A hot water bottle helps when filled and placed under your belly button. Not a drinking water bottle but the red pillow looking ones. You can find them in first aid sections.

My mother always said to wear socks and keep your feet warm, too. After painful cramps, I finally took her advice and it helped a lot. Old home remedies. :P

i get extremeley bad cramps and the best thing to do is stay home from school, get a electrical heating pad, and just be comfy.

If you are experiencing symptoms of menstrual cramps, it's important to see your doctor to be properly diagnosed.

Although certain natural remedies show some promise, there hasn't been enough research at this point to conclude they're effective. Here are some of the more popular natural remedies for menstrual cramps.

- Magnesium
- Acupressure
- Omega-3 Fatty Acids
- Low-fat diet
- Vitamin E
- Vitamin B1
- Heat (such as a heat pack, warm bath/shower)
- Aromatherapy
- Massage
- Calcium
- Chiropractic
- Exercise

I would recommend that if painful cramps during your period is so bad that it interferes with your daily activities or causes you to miss work/school because of it, that you definitely see your doctor/gynaecologist for further evaluation as painful periods can sometimes be caused by conditions such as endometriosis which can sometimes cause severe pain from an early age (although the pain typically gets worse as the disease does more damage with each monthly cycle). Other causes can include fibroids, pelvic inflammatory disease and sometimes a narrowing of the cervix.

Hope this helps. Good luck :)
