Question: When during your cycle does the water retention happen?
I am asking because I usually lose a lot of water the last days of my period and i just assumed that i had retained them over the last two weeks.. However today I am 10 pounds heavier than i was 3 days ago and I've never run across this scenario before.. maybe I've never weighed myself on this day of my period before?

The water retention is gradual.
For me, it starts building two weeks before my period, is there at full force during it, and lasts until the last day of my period.
For me, if my diet stays consistent as does my level of activity, it gradually builds from a week before and then about the second day of my period it starts to level back out.
If my diet is wacky, then all hell breaks loose :D
Some women gain and lose 10 pounds of water weight before and during their period. It's happened to me before too. I usually gain water weight a week before and retain it until my period is almost over.
