Drink lots of water (8-10 glasses in the day) to flush out the bacterial substabnces that's causing the irritation. You can also drink cranberry juice; if you can't take it (I know, it's sour), you can dilute it with water or apple juice to kill that sour kick it has to it and also because it can be an irritant as well for some people. Stay away from citrusy, spicy foods, alcohol and caffeine as they can only irritate you more. There's also ibuprofen or acetaminophen to ease the discomfort, and products for UTI's that you can find at your local pharmacy.

Push all the fluids you can...water, cranberry juice...basically anything acidic. That's about all I can tell you. The main thing is that you want to get this treated before it gets "septic" in your body.

lots of water and cranberry juice! drink lots of it. there is also over the counter maedications you can take to hold you until you can get into the dr.

are you taking the piss

Cranberry juice helps - buy some Ocean Spray and drink it like its going out of fashion.

If you can get yourself to a chemist go buy a pack or Ural or Citravescent powder sachets. Mix 2 of them up in a glass of water and I think you can drink them 4 times a day.

Drink heaps of water as well - even though it will make you go even more it will help flush out the bugs.

Lay of the alcohol (it'll only make things worse) and try some panadol as well.....

Good Luck!

Force fluids the next few days. You can take Uristat or AZO Standard from the pharmacy. The medication works to relieve your discomfort and soothe the bladder muscles. It does not treat the infection it just relieves your pain, so make sure to visit your doctor as soon as possible and have them do a urine culture to see if you really have an infection. If you do then you would require antibiotics. (Taking this medication will cause your urine to turn bright orange, or green so wear a pad to protect your clothing.)

Triggered by bacteria, UTI, or urinary tract infection, can occur in the kidneys, bladder, or urethra. According to research or other evidence, the following self-care steps may be helpful:

I'm very sorry to hear that, I have also had similar problems so I understand how horrible it is for you.

Make sure your health/diet is in top notch so you don't get rundown and prone to infection, take tablets to boost your immunie system and instead of drinking a carton of cranberry juice buy some of the neat stuff from health food shops that you put a few drops in water. Always drink a lot of water, and avoid spicy food. I find drinking alka seltzers work like magic as they have the same ingredients as cystitis relief tablets but much cheaper. These work like magic for me! Use unperfumed soap 'down there' and only wear cotton underwear/

Go to Wal-Mart & get some "AZO" & take as directed.
