Can your period be delayed if you stress after ovulation?!

Question: I'm a day late but im pretty sure I stressed after ovulation. here's what happened :
I was supposed to get my period today but didnt..I've been stressing quite a lot and now i got a mild cold. I've been stressing because my partner and I 'fooled around' WITH a condom but when he came to remove it some of his semen(he ejeculated in it) fell on my vulva..only a bit of it and I wiped it off immediately but since it looks like female discharge i might have missed a spot..now I'm getting scared because my period hasn't come yet and I've no pms. my breasts are slightly tender but just a bit..and sometimes i feel nauseaous but then I realise that I'm nauseaous because I'm stressing

Hi,
I am a doctor.
the normal period between periods is 28 days +or - 7 days.that gives a range of 21-35 days.
normally a period should last for 3-4 days..

however, there are lots of factors which could cause a delay.
Specially if your periods started recently, it may take about 2,3 years to get normalised to a 28 day cycle.sometimes it may even take more time..till then you may get irregular periods..

specially if your mother/grandmother had the same problem, then you most probably would have that problem too..
I have seen lots of patients even in their 20 s who have not got periods even after 30 days..
so there is no need to worry right now for you..

stress or being anxious is another problem...it may also cause the periods to get delayed..so try to be happy all the time.. if you have a problem, talk to your parents , a trusted relative or friend..or even your boy friend..

increased physical activity like taking part in atheletics regularly may also cause this..

However, whatever said and done,if your periods get delayed by about 8,10 days go and get a pregnancy test done..actually even now you can test yourself using a urine pregnancy test kit if you are so so unsure..
but i feel that you'll be fine..
