Would it be safe for me to go on birth control?!

Question: I'm 14 and my dermatologist recommended that I start taking Accutane for my acne. The only problem is it is REQUIRED that I go on birth control, because Accutane is linked to birth defects. Even though I'm a virgin and I'm not going to lose my virginity any time soon, I still have to be on birth control in order to take Accutane. Would there be any negative effects of me going on birth control at such a young age. Please provide links if you know of any. Thanks in advance.

nope...many girls go on birth control pills that are your age or even a little younger. some girls want to make their periods lighter and shorter andhelp with cramps which birth control pills do. There are some side effects and it depends on which birth control pill you go on. The normal side effects are weight gain, larger breasts, shorter periods and others. I don't think you should be worried about going on the pill...the side effects won't happen because of your age. Its SAFE.

happy holidays :)

Well, this site will tell you some of the risks of birth control: http://www.womens-health.co.uk/risks.htm...

Accutane isn't the ONLY was to clear up acne. Ask for alternatives if the side effects are too severe for you to deal with.
