Does timing of periods depend on when you mom is going have one?!

Question: My mom just told me that she got her period. She asked if I got mine yet, I told her no. She said I will soon. So when she have hers, I will have mine soon?

It can happen like that.. but it doesn't have to... You're young, so your cycle might not be as regular as your mom's... so your periods might not coincide... but once yours settles in, it very well might, as menstrating women release a pheremone that tells other women's bodies that it's time to menstrate too... I guess misery loves company...

no I did u and her going to have like different time

No. It has nothing to do with that.

Usually if women live together they get periods at the same time.
its cos of an armpit pheromone. Merry Xmas!!

Women who live together tend to cycle together.

not always, but it can happen. sometimes when women are living together, they will get their periods at the same time.

i heard that females who live closely together seem to get their periods at similar times but im not sure its true

thats the same with my mom
we get ours about the same time

its like that when im at my friends house too like my friends sister had her period & then my friend got hers about 4 hours later then i got mine.

its somthing like when women are near eachother alot hormones connect or somthing like that? lol

sure will that way you can both be crazy and yell and take it out on the men in the house together

I think your cycles are just close. although i have heard what a lot of the above answers . My moms always after me. Sometimes itll change up and we will get it the same but for the most she gets it as im ending..... weird huh?

it has been said cycles match in women who live together whether it be roomates, siblings or Mums so it's possible. I wouldn't worry about it for me I never worry about it unless there is something to worry about.
If you are concerned on the amount of flow or pain I would consult your GP if it is excessive sometimes taking the pill can help this problem.
hope this helps

Yes, you could. Many women will have periods together. It has to do with fermion's(sp) but that does not mean you will have your with her, it could be a friend of yours. It happens with women you are living or are being close to........It's a weird thing that just happens.

yea that happens a lot
my mom and I always get our periods at the same time, same with my friends and i!

studies show that women that are together a lot (friends) or live together (mom and daughter) usually have very close cycles!

no it has nothing to do with that. My mom and I have ours at completely different times of the month.

That has a chance of happening because you live close. But it doesn't really have to do with that.

No, it doesn't. It's a popular, yet false belief that women who live together have "menstrual synchrony"--that their periods synchronize.

No!

Nope. My mom and I have our periods at completely different times. However, there is a posibility you could get it when she gets hers.

There are studies that show that you usually get your period around the time your friends do, which happens to me. =)
