Period depression?!

Question: is depression a common partner with PMS. i usually try to think positivly, and i think it actually makes me have negitive thoughts. like when i think of an old friend...it hurts because i'll remember somthing akward i did and feel like a loser, where as when i'm feeling myself...i'll look back and say "haha...i'm such a ditz somtimes....oh well, it's part of my charm". everything that comes to mind brings negitive thoughts. i haven't tracked it well...but it seems like it comes at that time of the month. if my period is depressing me, would taking things like midol help? or is that more for cramps?

first talk to your doctor but yes depression can come with pms. midol might work but your best bet is to talk to your doctor cause they have med. now that can help. your not alone alot of us like that.

Midol is just for the cramps so that will not help with the depression, but if you feel you are depressed you are on the right track by asking for help, reaching out is the best response you could have chosen, I would speak to your school counslor or your church pastor and see if there are any local teen outreach programs where teens can go and talk one on one with someone who has experienced what you are going through and can help you, I don't think you need to see a doctor if you only need this once a month but I would get a handle on it now so that it doesn't get out of control. I know a lot of teens don't really want to listen to us "OLDER" people but you will get through this and although it seems a big deal right now, someday (hopefully soon) you will find that it doesn't matter anymore that you have your attitude figured out and can handle the monthly stresses that come along, and soon there will be other things to worry about, you know like college, marriage, babies, careers, you know the important things rather than the little things like what happens when you get your period, but do check into some kind of teen councelling with some kind of mentoring or sponsoring with another teen that has got a handle on it and can help you out. That way you will be able to understand from someone your own age that can deal. okay? Good Luck
