First questions first ... that 'brown stuff' is 'dried blood' from your uterus, so your 'first period' is EXTRMELY CLOSE. You should start carrying two or three 'pads' with you in your purse or backpack (they have them that come 'individually wrapped' so they need no further wrapping, but you might want to put them into a small brown paper bag for 'privacy').
You can eat anything you want to, but you should start using less salt than normal ... not just because the salt will give you more bloating and swelling before and during your pregnancy, but for your general health.
You will 'feel wet' down there, and you should ask to be excused and take your bag with you to the bathroom to 'check' (it may be a false alarm, but better safe than sorry).
Generally, you should know that when you start having periods you CAN GET PREGNANT ... so you need to see a gynecologist (a doctor who sees the 'female parts' of you) and get a 'pelvic exam' done, and learn to 'take precautions' if you are going to have ANY sexual contact. You are now PHYSICALLY A WOMAN, and there are RESPONSIBILITIES that go with that, but you are also still a 'girl' who needs time to 'grow up' to 'full womanhood.' I suggest that you start talking to a FEMALE you can TRUST so you can ask any questions and get GOOD ANSWERS ... if you can't talk with your mom, you may want to talk to a female counselor at school, or a woman from your church ... if you don't have one, call your local 'crisis line' and ask to speak to a FEMALE counselor there ...
You may have 'pain' in your belly ... those are 'menstrual cramps' and they can be very bothersome ... you'll need to take 'special medicine' for it, not just plain acetominophen (Tylenol) ... Midol is a good one to start with, or ask the gynecologist for other pills you can take if you have bad cramps, bloating, swelling, etc.
The WORST of this is that it will happen MONTHLY after you get 'regular' and will go on EVERY MONTH (except when you are pregnant or 'nursing' a baby) until you reach 'menopause' (a period of one full year with NO PERIODS) ... and periods are MESSY and not at all pleasant ... but YOU CAN HAVE BABIES and that is a very WONDERFUL thing that NO MAN WOULD EVER DO, because men can NOT TAKE THE PAIN. Women are STRONGER than men in this very special way, so be PROUD to be a woman ... and TALK WITH OLDER WOMEN when you have questions about it.

1) pack pantiliners, maxi pads with wings, and tampons

2) eat what you normally eat but cut down on sodium to prevent bloating

3) you'll know you've got it when you see brown discharge in your underwear and then it becomes brighter red. it'll start out as a musty brown color though

4) the brown stuff in your undies is blood (but not fresh blood or else it would be brighter red)

The brown stuff in your undies is the first sign of you period and what to eat i really would not know

what 2 eat.... lol ask ur mum

you gotta ask you mum, thats why she is there for....help you to prepare for womanhood....

brown stuff is the dried blood hunny !!
dun be afraid
dun u ask ur mom ?

well, dun drink cold drinks on the first day
never eat pineapples
bcos it will discharge more blood this way

um..if its too painful, eat menses pills
bring 3 pads everyday
never wear white pants, cos it would be bad if it is stained
try to wear black ;)

um ok da brown stuff is wqat u get before u get ur period. wat do u mean by pack? lik going over night somewhere plenty of pads lik 3 or 2 per day. eat healthier i guess but since ur on it chances r u will end up eating lik a pig. u know u hav it wehn u know. trust me ull know

1st pack pads if you dont like pain like i dont like pain cause if you did you could use tampons

2nd you eat what you do normally

3rd you will get cramps

4th i had this time once where i had an accident to where it showed through my pants so if you need to get these things called pull ups and use them

5th the brown stuff is old blood

Brown stuff is old blood. Use a liner to help keep your undies clean. Make sure you pack pads with you.... you can switch to tampons later when you're older. The pads with wings are useful. Always have pads on hand. Extra undie might be good in case you leak a little. You'll know you started your menses when you wipe and notice blood, or you find blood on your undies. Eat regularly, drink regularly. Nothing special just because of your menses.

Start keeping track of your first day and last day on a calendar, it'll help you figure out about when your next cycle will start. Good luck - don't worry, it's normal. All girls get their menses.

Well, things you'll want to have is either pads or tampons...
But that might be up to your mom, who can always help you.
You'll know when you've got it when it looks like your bleeding....and you can tell I think when your about to get it is when you start to get "discharge" which is something that comes out and its like wet, but's that's not your period. And the brown stuff....is probably dry blood.

But don't forget that you have your mom, because she can help you a lot...with already having it an all! :D
Well, good luck, and it's not bad. Just make sure to have pads or something with you in like a purse if your going to school or out somewhere!
Hoped I helped some! ^^

Keep a pad (or if you're comfortable with tampons, keep one with you)... I suggest a pad for your first though. Don't worry about what to eat, but you'll probably want to eat weird things or get strong cravings for things. Try not to eat too much :)
You might get cramps so if you're not home and don't have a heatpad handy, keep some midol or another over-the-counter pain reliever handy. An extra pair of underwear just in case is always a good idea, too. The brown stuff means you should probably already be wearing the pad.

What to pack? are you going somewhere? Eat normally, healthily.

All you need to do is to buy pads or tampons.

The brown stuff in your undies is the beginning, buy some panty liners to save on staining. You will know when you have it, which you sound like you are desperate to be "a woman", but believe me once you have it you'll wish you didn't.

been having my "." for bout 4 years now
not sure about the brown stuff
but u can eat regular
and buy pads or tampons and feminine wash
i suggest u buy pads until you get used to your "."

Ok, 1st off...relax. This is new to you, but not a bad thing ok? The brown stuff is called "spotting". It usually happens soon before you get your period, or a little bit will come right after. You'll know when you've got it because you will bleed from your vagina. Now on what to pack all depends on what you're going to be comfortable wearing..a pad or a tampon. But if your worried about embarrassment and you think you will be getting your period soon maybe you should wear a panty liner for now so you don't leak on your clothes. Just until you get used to getting it, then the timing will be like clockwork. Good luck & relax.

the brown stuff is blood . You have your period even though it doesn't look like blood . What to pack ? Uhm pads and lots of them ? What to eat ? Just keep a healthy diet . Uhn just a little advice get the pads with the wings . Oh when you start using tampons use that and a pad for extra protection and btw keep ibuprofen handy its helpful with cramps . :]

First off, every girl is different. Personal experience, I just saw a little bit of blood after urinating. For the first time I used pads because I found tampons a little painful and uncomfortable (but that is just me). Here is a site you can go to that might help you out.
http://www.avert.org/puberty2.htm
For me, stocking up on pads (thin, overnight ones worked best and prevented many of leaks from happening), chocolate, and Motrin worked wonders.

depending on ur age pads, if ur over 15 tampons and pantyliners also. eat normaly, and what ever u crave, so long as u dont gain 50lbs. when u get cramps and maby a back ache ur gonna start.
when ur pad(strt with that, b/c a tampoon hurts to pull out if its empty)is brick red or even deep red uve started it! be prepare for the worts weeek of ur life.

Pads-light, heavy and super. Panty liners, tampons,

Bananas are good for cramps and stuff. But you can usually eat whatever you like

When the blood comes. (the blood isnt always red)

Change it every 3-4 hrs. When it comes which is usually around 7 days, on the 3-4 day it should be the heaviest.

The brown stuff is either discharge which is telling you it is coming soon or the first sign of your period.

good luck sweetie!

Prepareing for first period?
Make sure you have alot of clean underwear, no thongs
What to pack? pads and tampons... alot and keep them with you.
What to eat?
Healthy things, like fruit, veggies, and grains, leave the greasy stuff alone.
How do i know when ive got it?
It will take you a while to know when you have it or not, but of course, you will know because it would feel uncomforable in you underwear..
General help with everything a girl needs to know?
Having babywipes while on your period is helpful, when going to sleep use pads, keep track of it... watch your habbits of before, during and after your period so you will realize when you are about to start and finish, for me, I get one big zit on my face that looks like a crater before I start. Know how long it will last, if it a normal period it will be about the same lenght in time for every time you have it... also if it happends suddenly and you have no supplies, use some tolet paper and fold it and use it as as temporary pad untill you can get one...
What is the brown stuff in my undies?
that would be old blood I think and you would need some stain remover for it...
HELP!?
don't panic, and tell a friend who is a girl who has also started her period, and come up with a code word that tells her your on your period, like when I first started, I told my friends that "my boat is afloat" when I started, " The ship is sinking" when I need a pad. This will help if you don't have supplies, and make sure your parents know... they will help you too... and if your in school go to the nurse if you need to change or get pads or something like that...

Make sure that you have maybe a spare pair of underwear with you as well as sanitary towels, or tampons-- put them in a small makeup bag to carry them around in, to save any embarassment.
You do not have to eat anything different from your normal diet-- your period is only ever affected by diet if you are severely underweight.
Getting your period is different for every woman, some get cramps of varying strength, some become moody, some have outbreaks of zits on their skin, some women only have it for a few days-- and for others it can be over a week before they finish.
The first time is scary and different, but the best person to ask questions from is either a family member (your mum or elder sister) or a friend you know has already started on theirs.
Remember, its the most natural process a woman has, and is nothing to be embarassed or scared about-- welcome to puberbity...

you'll know when you've gotten it. and you probably wont know what to do at the exact moment but you'll know what to do after you realize whats going on, never wear a pad for longer than 2 hrs(depend on your flow)
always keep yourself clean
always keep plenty of pads around
keep around enough pantyliners for your close to days
and the brown stuff is discharge. discharge with blood in it, indicating your period is soon to start

> it's a normal thing, don't get nervous
> choices-- tampoon, sanitary napkins, sometimes extra underwear
> what you normally eat
> once your period started, it usually last for a 5 days to a week; prepare for the next visit usually after 26-28 days.. that's the usual cycle.. that is counting from the first day of your period;
> get physically active, exercise helps a lot
> that brown stuff is blood, becomes brighter red when period gets heavy, usually on your 2nd and 3rd day.
> ask your mom
