U might get cramps and ur tummy will hurt really bad, it can last for a few days 2 a week. U get moods swings u just really don't want 2 do anything. I'm giving u some sites that can help http://www.beinggirl.com/en_US/pages/hom... http://www.teenshealth.org/teen/sexual_h... I'm 17 and have already started my period.

if i were u I would ask my grandma! she is a woman, she went through the samething you are going through right now!
call ur sister!
don't worry, getting your period is normal, just try to come down and relax, it will only last 3 or 5 days!=) Good luck!

Wow! Congrats! Welcome to the world of women. =)

Well, i know how scared you must be. Do you have a pad handy? You need to buy them, if you dont, use toilet paper as a replacement for the moment. You may also experience cramps, so take so medication for those. You period now, since you started will be very irregular, so it may be less then 7 days or more then 7. Just relax, things just get more complicated when you are worried. You need to let your grandmom know so she can go out and help you buy supplies.

Congrats! And best of luck! =)

don't freak out. its all normal. it will last probably 6 to 7 days. i am saying that to be on the safe side. everybody is different. wear a thick pad to be safe, that way u don't bleed through.
you can probably still ask your grandma cus she has had them and will help u with it.

Make sure you tell your Grandmother cause you need the proper supplies to deal with it.
Im 16 and I started mine when I was 12 too.
It's uncomfortable and you'll get cramps.
They hurt. Take midol.
It should last about a week but you're young so it might be a little shorter.
You'll get bloated and cranky.
It's all apart of growing up though.

Hope this helps sweetie. If you have any more questions feel free to email me.

ok ok dont stress. Im 13 so let me tell u the basics :)

Ok periods usually last up to a week. you get them every month like every 4 weeks. They can be bright red or brownish.

At your age i wouldnt advise you use tampons. i dont but i could never get them in lol.

you should change your pad every 3-4 hrs. on days 3-4 your period is usually the heaviest so u may have to change more frequently.

set up a bin in your room or bathroom. its really inconvienient but once you get use to it its just like "oh damn my period"

Congratulations on becoming a woman. :)

your period is whenever an egg comes out of your ovaries and it comes out because it's not fertilized: whenever you have s...e...x it gets the egg fertilized, which lets you have a baby. Anyway, for the first couple of years you have your period, it will be irregular. Once it comes regular (and it will be roughly this whenever its irregular) it will come every month, specifically 28 days. The symptoms are cramps, which depend on your genes (so basically whatever your moms symptoms are, or in this case your g'mas, will probably be the same as such as when and how bad the cramps hurt) and sometimes your stomach gets bloated, but not always. Also, you can get EXTREMELY cranky because your hormones go out of whack. Also, your boobs might get sore. I hope this helps!

Don't worry...we all go through it. Mine are generally about 4 days, but I'm on bc, so they tend to be shorter. Yours will likely be around a week. You may experience cramps in your lower stomach or back - you can take midol etc, or simply ibuprofun. Really anything will help. During this time of month, you should take care to drink enough water, and you should also take a multivitamin with iron in it everyday (you lose iron in your blood, and women tend to be anemic anyway). You might also experience some fatigue, etc, but some medication for PMS symptoms can help if it's bad. Once you're used to it, you'll be fine. I hardly even notice mine any more - It just means a few days where I have to wear a tampon. BTW, you might want to use pads unless you are in gym or swimming, etc. If/when you use tampons, use the slim/light kind until you're a little older.

I had my first period when I was 12 too. It was light and lasted for 2 days. I didn't have my next period until 45 days later. That's usually how it is. Your period will be irregular at first. Once it's regular, you should expect it every 25-28 days and it will last anywhere between 5-7 days. It'll be "heavier" the first couple of days. You should change your pad every 2-4 hours, depending on how heavy your flow is. Some women experience headaches and cramps right before and during their period. I hope this helps. Welcome to womanhood!
