Mirena?? (the birth control)?!

Question: I just had my baby girl 6 weeks ago, and I was talking to my doctor about using Mirena. I don't know anyone who has ever used it. Can anyone tell me their experiences with it?? Side effects?

I got mine this past November. I got it due to menstrual issues, not for bc (had a btl in '98). Nothing else seemed to help. So far it's been very good, i'm very happy with it. I've had no side effects. My first period after the insertion was very short and light (finally! lol) and this month's has been a no show which is perfectly fine with me.

Some women have side effects the first 3-6 months, others have no side effects at all and then there's that group that simply cannot tolerate the Mirena and has had to get it removed. Everyone is different.

not too many side effects. I get mine put in on the 9th..
I'm not good with pills so this was the best choice for me.

All IUDs increase the chances of a future tubal pregnancy. They are recommended for women who do not plan on having anymore children. I havent used it but have heard a lot of women having heavy bleeding and a lot of problems with their periods. Other women love it. It all depends on your body of course.

I have had Mirena for over a year. I love it. No more heavy painful periods or PMS. You do have a lot of spotting for the first 6 months but after that it settles in. I now get a very light period once a month. I wish I had gotten it sooner.
