Extra period? Why am I bleeding???!

Question: I have been on the Ortho Tri Cyclen birth control pills for around 9 months now and have never seriously bled between periods.

I've been on vacation from work for a week now and for the first 3 days or so took my pill at different times because I was sleeping in, instead of at 8am like usual.

Then I started bleeding and thought it might be because I was messing with my hormones. I have taken my pill right at 8am every morning since but I am still bleeding, almost as much as if it was a period (I even have to use tampons!) but I shouldn't be on it again for another 2 weeks. Today I am even having back cramps.

What's the deal? I am just being added onto insurance so I can't even go to a doctor for another week. If anyone has any ideas as to what's going on, I'd appreciate it!

its because you didnt take it at your normal time for a few days. when i was on that pill, if i missed it by an hour, i would have bleed (and i dont care if they call it spotting, it was like full flow) until my next period started. its like it "broke the dam". *sigh*

you might have it until your next period starts, sorry to say. just take it from me, get a cell phone with an alarm and take it as soon as that goes off. i've reciently had to change my pills time to 4pm, so i know i'll be up everyday and able to take it then.
