Cervicitis question?!

Question: The last two times i went for a pap the doctor did a swab of my cervix and said it was a "new instrument" to detect cervical cancer.
The first time she did it, i had some bleeding and she said it was normal (i had never bled during a regular PAP before, because she had never used this instrument).
The second time she did it (a year later) she used the same instrument on me, and I bled A LOT...i literally could not stop bleeding until i put a tampon in (she said this was normal).
The last time i went to the doctors, i had asked her why i was bleeding before my period came...she took a look at my cervix and said i had Cervicitis...
my question is..after researching Cervicitis a bit, it keeps saying that it's caused by STD's...could the doctor have actually caused this???

Did the Dr use like a brush to do the sample, because some Dr's can be a little rough when doing this procedure and the bristle can cause some bleeding. Cervicitis can be caused by STD's and multiple yeast infections. I feel that yes maybe possibly if a pap was done previously and created bleeding and created inflammation that this could have caused it. Be careful though Dr's will deny this because they all back each other up, call a Gynecologist and see what the possibilities are. Good Luck. If your Dr insists you have cervicitis, request a pelvic and trans vaginal ultrasound to rule out any problems.

Nope... just scraped too hard.

cervicitis is the result of an infection, although it can also be caused by injury or irritation (a reaction to the chemicals in douches and contraceptives, for example, or a forgotten tampon).

I have heard of cervicitis. It is bad. Isn't it? I hate it! Bye! I will talk to you later! I don't think the doctor caused it! OK? I don't think so. You got it yourself. That's how. OK? Bye! I hope you like my advice. I'm not going to lie. I'm sorry. Bye.

Cervicitis is an irritation of the cervix caused by a number of different organisms. Cervicitis is generally classified as either acute, meaning the onset of symptoms is severe and sudden, or chronic, lasting over a period of months or longer.

Acute cervicitis can be caused by any of a number of infections such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, or herpes, and is often confused with vaginitis.

Chronic cervicitis is common in women following childbirth. It is also often associated with pregnancy and the use of oral contraceptives, probably due to an increased blood supply to the cervix as a result of increased hormone levels. Less commonly, cervicitis is caused by sensitivities to certain chemicals, including those in spermicides, latex, and tampons.
