It means she is maturing into a woman.
Plus, if a girl doesn't get her period around age 10-14, that is a sign of a serious hormonal imbalance. I knew a girl who didn't get her period and she was 15. It turned out she had thyroid cancer.
It's a very serious medical issue if you don't get your period or start puberty around that age.
I don't get it either. They freak out because they haven't gotten it yet and treat it like its some kind of great thing. Little do they actually know that it is not fun in the least and they have to deal with it EVERY month for the next forty years or so. Yay.

I think it is because they want to grow up so quickly. A lot of girls around that age really don't know who they are yet and they just want to be older and someone they're not.
No girl is looking forward to a 40 year future of monthly cycles with cramps and pain every year. No one would want that-young old male or female. Unfortunately we are the ones with no choice. What're gonna do?
Most girls want it because it means they're maturing, and of course all girls are curious about it. I got mine before I was 10, so I could have done without, lol. But yea, most girls are just curious, and a lot of the time all their friends get it before them and they feel left out.

I member when I was younger and I used to pretend I was on my period or started, I wanted to be a women and I thought it meant that you were older or more women like.
