If you get the chance, please read this book called The Period Book: Everything You Don't Want to Ask (But Need to Know) and click on the link below to see it.

Please don't be scared and embarrassed, your sister and mom are the ones that you can alway turn to and will always help you, and when you get to be alone with them, then that's when you can bring up the idea. I started my period when I was 11 and that book I'm telling you to read, it helped me a lot. Try to check it out from the library, but it should just be your mom or sister with you so no one else knows.

You're not the only one, what your friends say, don't let it bother you, I started my period earlier then all my friends but now they're taller than me and they have bigger boobs now. =P

Ask your mom and sister when they got their period, maybe that'll tell you when you'll start because my mom started her period when she was 11 like me. I have a 10 year old sister, but she already started her period!

When you get taller, have bigger boobs, the you should start your period soon. And the reason why it hurts is because you get stomach cramps right below your belly button, but it's not that bad. The reason why is because your stomach is flexing/pushing to get the blood out, it's a way of your body cleaning out your system, and because boys' bodies don't do that, girls usually live longer then boys.

So when it hurts, lie down on your back, or take a warm bath. Put hot/warm water in a bottle and put it on your stomach, it helps sooth the cramps so it doesn't hurt. Even try eating chocolate and taking Midol, it's just like Advil or Tylenol but better.

When you start your period, buy pads, use them when there's a heavy flow, and buy overnight pads, use them when you go to sleep so blood doesn't leak, and buy panty liners when it's light, it also helps from getting your panties dirty, and try tampons when you're playing sports, going out, and swimming. Tampons are great because you can't feel them, and doesn't make you feel like wearing a diaper.

So when you get taller, have bigger boobs, get hair down there, even just a little bit, you should start your period soon, and periods are just for a week or less once a month, but when you do, wash your face more ofter because when you hit puberty, you'll start getting pimples because of hormones, and don't wear white pants!

I hope I helped you, and don't feel scared because you're not the only one. Try reading the book, it'll tell you everything!

This a good period website for girls too! Click on it!

It just happens, but it's not horrible when you first get it. Sometimes you don't even notice until you use the restroom

bleeding and cramps and pain. there are medication you can take or go ask your mom pretty sure she had one herself.

It can happen anytime. There is no way of being sure when it will happen. But some people get bad cramps, and bloating and even sore boobs. lol

No sweetie nothing hurts. Wear pads the first few rounds and calm down. The only discomfort you may experience is slight cramping which for most women feels nothing more than gas! You will know when it comes....it is not some huge, dramatic gush of bloody mess or anything. Typically, you will use the restroom and wipe and then see it. It is not a liquid like water so it will not drip everywhere and no one will even know ok? Sorry to get graphic but I was in your shows a long time ago so I know you want it straight! You will notice it when you use the bathroom and wipe....it will show on tissue and you will know. Keep a few pads on you at all times....purse....zipper in school bag, etc. That way you always will be ready. Keep change too for those machines if you were to forget to pack one, ok? It's fine! Dont worry!

I am sorry I cant help with this one because my snuck up on me. I did not know anything and when it did happen I was sitting on a gym floor and every one was pointin @ my red crotch. I was mortified. I was even more mortified when the gym teacher asked me if anyone had ever explained anything to me. Ignorance is bliss because I had no idea what she was referring to all I knew was that I had a red stain on my pants.

There are no signs it just happens when it happens. You might feel some cramps the day before it comes, thats completely normal. It doesnt hurt, you can take tylonol if you get cramps (not all girls even get them). Just have supplies ready for when it comes. Talk to your mom or someone else you are close with. Every girl gets their period, it is a normal part of becoming a woman!

It could happen at any time, and since you are already 13, its likely to come within the next couple of years. Keep a few sanitary towels in random places such as your school bag, bedroom and bathroom. That way you're definitely prepared.
There aren't really any signs to look out for, before your period you might feel slightly moodier or get a few zits.
You may get a stomach ache, but there's no severe pain, so don't worry hun!

Each person is very different when it happens. you may start feeling cramps in either your stomach or your back or both. that will let you know that its goign to start ... sinse everyone is different some get them right before they start bleeding and others get them afterwards. unfortunately theres no way to be sure until youve had one. your first few periods will probebly be the worst simply because your body is trying to get use to it. they may last a couple weeks or just a day. it will take a few years before they become regular.

dont worry though! just take comfort in the fact that every women goes though this and we can all relate. :) the truely worst part of having periods is just the fact that you dotn feel like moving and you constantly feel dirty even if you shower a billion times a day.

It doesn't hurt at all... You probably will not even know it came until you use the toilet, unless you are wearing light colored pants, which would be embarassing, but it doesn't come out very fast, so you'll be able to notice it before then...

It starts light then goes to heavy then back to light until it disappears. You'll be fine!!

Don't be scared - its part of life. Your mum has gone through it all so ask her if your scared. The signs include boob development cramps heavy discharge. Depending on the person depends on how much it hurts. Also some girls don't get their period until they are 18 so I wouldn't worry about it too much - stress can also delay periods. I didn't get mine until I was 14 even though I had all the signs and C cup boobs! Don't worry about it it will come! Good luck

hehe
nope no pain at first, i dont think, there will only be a little bit down 'there' at first and then it probably wont be until you use the toilet htat you notice, other symtoms that it may be coming are developing breasts, hair in places and when that time comes you may get stomach aches or back aches. not a lot of fun really :| ask your mum for more info

I am so sorry you do not have anyone in real life that you can talk to about this? Mom? Aunt? Cousin?
There is absolutely NOTHING to be afraid of...it is natural and normal and will be with you for many many years. I never had any pain at all of any kind, although I have friends who had a problem. An aspirin is all that they ever took. A lot of it is psychological.....just think of it as a rite of passage in your life and accept that it will be with you for 35 years, give or take. That is not to say that some women really do have pain, but they are in the minority.

Awwww.
Don't be afraid every girl goes through it.
Some of the signs might be, Stomach Pains (Lower Abdominal Pains), Bloating, Sore Breast when you push on them, hairy underarms, discharge, things like that.
And no it doesn't hurt, when i first got mine, i was like wth i think i have my period, sometimes you don't even notice you have it till you feel wetness in your undies. lol

Don't be afraid it's normal, it just means your growing up.
:)

hey, darlin. don't worry, i was the same way. i started to notice discharge (whitish liquid kind of like white snot) for a couple of months before i got my period. when i first got it, it was more of a brown liquid and wasn't very heavy. you must remember, that it's different for every person. usually at first it doesn't hurt at much, as far as i know. if it does, just take an advil and curl up in bed and try to sleep. also, running and exercising helps the cramps if you do end up getting them. you may notice sourness of the breasts, too. best of luck and don't worry, it's a blessing in disguise, because it's your body preparing you to be an amazing mother!

I was scared about getting mine, when i got mine, I didn't realize until i got home and my undies were full of blood,, god I was shocked, but its okay, my mum had prepared me and I had some stuff in my bag.. I was too embarrassed to tell her at first, bu luckily my bestie who i spoke to online told me to just go tell her, it took me hours o get the guts and tell her lol, so yeah don't be afraid to tell!!

I've only had my period for 8 months, it sucks, it comes early/late, and can last from 3-12 days, mostly about 8 days.. but once it even went for 2 days then came a week later!!!! It sucks,, but its something every women has to go through,,,

For the pain, I dont really get it, for the first few I got really sick for the first 3-4 days, but that was just my body getting used to the changes, now I just live and deal with it..

So don't be afraid, it is a pain but we have to live with it soo goodluck!!!

when you first get it. it'll kinda freak you out. every period is different so i cant really say if it'll hurt for you or not. you might not have symptoms, but if you do expect this:
-cramps
-change in apatite
-discharge (lots of it)
-spotting from time to time

sometimes, you get signs sometimes you dont.
but the very common ones are, cramping, irritability, and mood swings. i am 15 and started at 12. you usually get a brown, heavy, discarge before your period. it doesnt hurt really. but if you have cramps try taking a hot bubble bath.
