I'd like to hear from women who take birth control pills what they think abo!

Question: I am 27 and have never taken the birth control pill before since it seemed like a hassle etc., but now I am considering it seriously. Do you women who take the pill like it? Is it as effective as it claims to be? Are there any women out there who smoke and take the pill too even though it is strongly advised not to smoke while taking it? I do smoke and am scared of that part of taking it etc. I'd love to know what women think about the pill out there and if they advise other women like me to take it too.
P.S. Also, does it clear up mild acne too? I have a bit of that as well and have heard it could help my skin. Any women see results with that too? Thanks for your help!

Today there are many different types of "pill". If you don't like the fact of taking them daily, there are medications that you don't have to take as often. They are 99% effective taken correctly. Condoms should still be worn to prevent STD's. As far as the smoking goes, it is a crap-shoot. I smoke but stopped taking the pill because of Dr.'s won't prescribe it after you are 35 and still smoking. It is a new year so join the ban wagon and quit! I'm going to try myself. As for the acne, it can help. I guess you have to ask yourself which is more important, not getting pregnant or pacifying your nicotine addiction. Believe me, I know how hard it is to quit, but imagine the money you will save, plus we won't be poisoning are bodies anymore. We can do it:)
As far as liking the pill; it helped with my cramps, my periods were regular and light and I knew what day(s) they were coming. With some birth control, you only have 4 periods a year. YAHOO!!

i love the pill. i take it everyday.. its not really a hassel.. it when i wake up and i wake up at the same time everyday.. i dont smoke though so im not sure about that part.. it cleared up my mild acne.. my face is clear. i only get like maybe one or two the week of my period. i havent gotten pregnant so its effective. hahaha. i suggest taking it.. but for about the first two to three months your period wont know what to do it will take a while to get it right but its smooth sailing afterwards..

I taken it before I got headache and I felt sick so I stop my doctor put me on another kind. But you still have to be care while taken the pill cause certian medication well cause the pill to be laess effective I hope I helped

For about the first couple of days its hard to remember to take it, thats why i put a reminder on my cell phone, but the pill does clear up mild acne. Although, for the first few days of taking the pill, you might get a slight headache or feel nauseous because your body is not used to the hormones.

I like it because my cramps are less painful and my period became more regular. I've never had unprotected sex with it so idk if it works in that way. I didn't notice any change in my skin at all. I would suggest taking it for extra protection if you're sexually active and to reduce pain if your periods tend to be painful
