Do I really need a PAP smear??!

Question: I am 20 and I am on birth control to help with heavy periods. I have never had sex but I do "mess around" with my boyfriend. Do I need a pap smear even though I'm not having actual intercourse? Is there any chance something could show up on a test from just messing around??

Thanks!

The current guidelines are by the age of 21 or with in 3 years of becoming sexually active. If I where you I would be making my appointment sometime soon.

There is no chance of anything showing up on the test from just messing around.

Definitely, have your pap smear, this is to check for cancerous cells and much more, especially since you are on birth control, and have messed around, we know what will come next, unless you can really hold off till marriage=======

Yes, it would be a good idea. The test is not just for sexually transmitted things, but also for naturally occurring irregularities. Actually, I'm a bit surprised that you're on bc but not having them... There's nothing to worry about. The test is simple and over with quickly.

Hope this helps :)

yes you need to have a pap even if you are still a virgin or not having sex.
because with that they are checking for cancerous sells and things like that.
so it is worth atleast talking to your doctor, cause they may be able to do a pap with out opening the cervics, if you let them know that you are a virgin

Yes. At 20, you are in charge of your health. A PAP now will give you and your gynecologist a base for your future. Remember to take the records with you if you move out of the area.
