HEllo Sharon,
First of all, just because she' s the head of her dept doesn mean she can think she's on top pf the world. I strongly suggest you to take a second opinion, from a better doctor, even if she/he is not the head of the surgery. I am not well experienced at this, but have seen my mom and aunts go through this. Menopause is a difficult time, one can expect pains like your's upto problems such as osteoporosis. all this is not to get one freaked out, but the fact is this. You have to get yourself throughly checked, get a master check up done, cos it might be a cause of something else also.
All the very best, and hope for the best.

get another opinion you may have cysts or something my sis did

I haven't had the same experience but i suggest you change doctor, do any friends or relatives recommend a woman doctor you could go to? A doctor shouldn't be unsympathetic, and i think she ought to investigate further just to put your mind at rest.......
Good luck

If you are in the UK you can check your local health authority web site, this will provide you with details of which doctors are accepting patients in your area. When you find an alternative go and ask to register at there practise. You may need your nhs number/card but this will be available through your GP. I have the same problem and am waiting till after Christmas to try and change. There is nothing worse than not getting the service you need from your GP...mine is a woman which makes it worse because she is horrible(and you would expect her to be a little sympathetic!). If you cant register with new GP try your local hospital drop in centre, these details will also be on the web site but be prepared to wait a couple of hours to be seen.At the very least you will get to see a different doctor.Good luck!

HI, why dont you try the family planning clinic, dont laugh, they do actually sort out womens problems too, they do smear tests, and can tell you if they can see anything wrong up there. I am 47 and am not planning any more babies, but they still see me if I need to, and it was the doctor there that told me I had fibroids and she arranged the ultra sound scan for me, they are really very good there. Save you visiting your "up her own ***" doctor!!
