Many do, but let me tell you that one of the best phone calls I got working Thanksgiving day in the ER was from a woman's boyfriend that was worried because she was now covered in huge painful bumps. Truthfully, I am not a mean person, so I did not know if I should laugh or cry with them. She came in, and she had hundreds of painful ingrown hairs and even required antibiotics do to infection from the ingrown hairs. It is a cosmetic thing. Waxing causes less of a chance for ingrown hairs, but is very painful.
For a cleaner, easier look at the groins, etc. As far as normal people shaving, just for a cleaner hygenic feeling

I don't know, they may be required to do it. I think unshaved looks natural too. I shaved one time and I didn't like how it made me look like a little girl again down there.
I think it's just for the look of it. I imagine it's also because the porn stars don't want to have to deal with a mouthful of hair when "performing" in the movies.

The benefit is most likely just the visual effect. Rather than a fleshy staff protruding from a bush of hair and disappearing into another bush of hair, the camera can capture explicit details. Certainly when oral sex (cunnilingus) is shown in porn, it's much easier for the camera to pick up on details without hair in the way.
One side effect for the male performer is that absent of pubic hair, he appears to be more well endowed than the guy with a forest of pubic hair. That's just an optical illusion. Well that, and they may actually be using a more endowed actor. But the loss of pubic hair definitely enhances the effect.
In the meantime, it seems that full bush public hair porn has become more of a specialty or fetish genre. Just my perception, and I could be wrong here.

What do you have to lose if you shave it off--just try it--but be warned that once you start, you will have to make your skin get used to shaving. Therefore, don't go on a daily shaving spree--otherwise you will be in pain due to irriation!!!!
