I have this clearish discharge out of my vagina-What is it?!

Question: I'm 14 and I haven't started my period yet. I've heard you get it a year before your period-is that true? It also comes with a horrible odor. I wash it throughy and daily. How do Get rid of the smell and discharge?

Clear discharge is normal, and yes it does start a year before your period starts. The discharge can also be whitish or cream-colored. A little bit of an odor is to be expected, but if the odor is really strong so that you always smell it or if it is very fishy, then something might be infected and you should tell your mom so she can take you to the doctor to be checked out. Every woman has a little discharge so it's normal.

no clue. i have the same problem and i am older. i think part of it is natural but maybe you should go to the doctor b/c you could have an infection if it smells.

The discharge most likely has nothing to do with getting your period...I think you may have an infection hun...you should see a doctor. The odor tells me something is not right...are you sexually active? That could have something to do with it if so....a doctor is always your best bet.

I just saw you said that you are not sexually active so DO NOT be afraid to talk to your mom or someone you trust about it...it never hurts to get the doc to check it out...tell your mom you need a physical for school and then go in to see the doctor alone and talk to the doc about it....if you need to talk to someone I am always available through...messenger at julieann_bowker (yahoo)

Assuming you have never had vaginal sex and don't have an STD, I really don't know what it is. Doesn't sound like thrush, as that's definitly white, not clear.

Note that there is such a thing as "fertile mucus" which appears for 2 or 3 days when you are ovulating (and therefore before your period), but that doesn't have an unpleasant odour. It's noticeably different from your usual secretions, as it's a little sticky and very slippery. Later in life if you want to conceive, that will be the right time to try.

For the moment, I think you need the doctor's help.

I would recommend a doctor. Most likely it is just a yeast infection. However, you should always check with a doctor before trying any OTC meds. It could be something else.

U may have a urinary tract infection as it may cause smelly discharge and it's common in young girls like u don't get worried just try to drink alot of water through out the day.
another common reason for this discharge is yeast infection and u dont have to be sexually active to get as it's very common in young non sexual girls
most importantly is to see a physician to be sure
