Lump In My Breast!?!

Question: I had a breast augmentation nearly a year ago and have had no problems what so ever but the other day when I was checking myself I noticed in one of them I have a large lump in the top of my breast and anther smaller one sort of under my arm (only just noticed that one!). Has anyone had a similar problem, I know of capsular contracture and read up on it, my breast isn't very firm or anything apart from these lumps, my other breast is normal. They both look normal in the mirror too. I am due on any time now so I am waiting untill I come on to see if it is hormonal or something plus I can't get a dr's appointment because they are all booked up at this time of year so I was just after some advise really. I will see the dr later on in the week.

Thanks allot x

Hi Sara,

A great number of things can cause lumps in your breast, and the fact that you have had augmentation increases that list. Here are a few questions to ask yourself. Is it firm or soft? Is it painful to touch? Does the skin above it feel warm to touch or is it discoloured in anyway? (remembering as well that you have been touching and pinching at the area since you discovered it). Can you feel a cord like firmness running between it and the lump under you arm? (this could point the finger as the source being and infection). Remember in order to have fewer scares visible a great deal of you lift and augmentation sutures are deep inside, so scar tissue is another possibility.

I could go on for days, and we can imagine much worse than it probably is. What you need is an examination by a health care professional "As Soon As Possible". They will likely do an Ultrasound of the breast and can recommend your next step.

Try not to worry about it, until you can see someone, your GP, your GYN or even your Plastic Surgeon. Call all three explain your case and go to whomever can see you first!

Could be a leak, or hormonal. I'd keep ringing the GP and say it's urgent. A mammogram will show up anything. Good luck!

Better get it checked out.
Happy new year.

not really familiar with it, but were the implants silacone or saline? if it was saline, and it leaked, it will be absorbed by your body over time. if it was silacone, you might have some problems from it if it has leaked. as long as it doesn't hurt, or turn red and inflammed, you are probably okay. hope this helps.

Best not to worry about it until you get it checked at the doctors although that is easier said than done. Try and get an appointment as soon as possible. Good Luck

Hi Sarah,

Is the lump in your left breast? My doctor told me that oftentimes left breasts are lumpier that right breasts--apparently it has something to do with the heart's position in relation to the breast.

Good for you for doing your research. It may very well be scar tissue, but it could be something else as well. You know your breasts better than anybody (except maybe your partner if you have one : ) and if they're not normally lumpy/fibrous, then it is probably in your best interest to get it checked out. Be super-aggressive when making an appointment--this is important stuff. Tell them that you found lumps on the phone.

Good luck.

Try not to worry it will probably be a cyst.

Consult your Doc ASAP to put your mind at rest.

i dnt wnt 2 worry u but its probably a tuma n u hav breats cancer.

please please please visit your dctr, hope u get 2 thee bottom of it!

Yes Zorro a bit blunt but it could be! Sod the cant get an appointment drs are always busy this time of year, have you actually phoned them and told them that you have found TWO lumps in your breast and that you need an appointment ASAP!!! Yes it could be hormonal but do you really want to take the risk by waiting.

Phone them and get the appointment then you will feel a lot happier.

from reading medical books i think you may have breast cancer, see a doctor immediately

If you explain your problem on the phone, you will find that the doctor ... will be able to work you in...

See your doctor! Do not delay.... this may or may not be related to your implants...

Breast Cancer.Get it checked out!

Hope its nothing! Happy New Year!

First it could be the very worst that you are thinking or it could be nothing more than premenstrual changes that women get in the breast every month. The other possibility is cysts that are non malignant.
No person on this forum can really help you as even if they happen to be a doctor the lumps need feeling by a trained diagnostician.
Contact the doctors and tell the reception that the need is urgent a tell them why. You will get your appointment regardless of the lack of space. Best of luck and have a happy new year if you can.

breast cancer =(
